Adrian's Tips

The first few moves need to open up the central area,
so work to the edges.

But always make combos.
Remember if you make a striped candy by moving a piece sideways to make a line of 4 you'll get a SIDEWAYS striped candy which will help to blast the two side columns.

Once you've got some play area try for combos.

Best one here is a wrapped on striped (but make sure you get it low enough), or a spotted on striped, especially when you get some candy in the side columns.

Just go for combos and ignore the columns, hope this helps.

A spotted on spotted doesn't help on this level.

The image below shows how many times you need to hit the blocks to clear them.

Tips from Carole Greenberg

How I got through this level was to break down all the icing

(walls) in the middle of the board.

Then I made a striped candy and a chocolate bomb.

When I blew those up it hit some of the

ones on each side. Then I made striped candies with the

stripes going right to left instead of the stripes going up and

down. I used those to hit the ones on the side.

Tips by Allina Rumfelt
On 01/14/2014 I went back to this level to remind myself why level 181 is considered by many to be one of the hardest levels in candy crush. 3rd hardest according to wiki. This is an ingredient drop level requiring 2 cherries that are dropped from 2 single column islands filled with 3 to 4 layered meringues. The main play area is relatively simple and straight forward. Start making horizontal stripe candies from the very top because they will drop fairly easily. You have 50 moves and need at least 14 to take out the meringues in the islands and drop the ingredients. Remember, you can control the way the stripes go on a candy by the direction you make the swipe. Moving a candy sideways into the combo makes a horizontal candy. Contrary to most ingredient levels, stand alone vertical stripes do very little to help in this level.... unless it is used to fire off a horizontal stripe somewhere within the meringue zone or used in combination with a wrap. Which is your most powerful combo for this level. A wrap/stripe combo will knock out 3 rows of meringue at a time so try to get as many as you can. If you happen to get a chocolate bomb in a cascade, the only real strategic way to use it is to pair it with a stripe, make sure to fill the "meringue zone" up with like colored candies to increase your chances of hitting the meringue multiple times. You can also swipe the choco bomb sideways with any color and that will make any cascade given stripes horizontal too. Good luck and remember, this is one of the hardest levels to beat so go slow, plan your moves, predict the outcomes of your moves and take a break if needed. Don't turn into a crushing zombie because you forget to take your time and just crazily crush

This level is kicking my arse...dayum, but it's hard...and I keep running out of lives...

Anonymous said...

This Level is the hardest one yet! No doubt, luck is going to have to win it.

Anonymous said...

Luck........that is going to be the only way to win it. That's for sure. This is so hard that it is taking the fun out of playing.

RacingRobin said...

Definitely taking the fun out of playing!! I have had tons of combos and the damn blocks under the hazelnuts take what, four moves each all together to wipe out?? I hate this level!! Why make it so hard???

Anonymous said...

I've been stuck awhile also!!! I can tell by the time I get half through the moves that it's another losing game. Glad I found the little red reject the game button on the bottom so I can just get rid of that game and start another losing game :( Probably will be on this one for weeks.

Anonymous said...

It's very hard I'd say my most difficult stage yet, does take a few moves to wipe out the peppermints in the far side columns, best bet is with as many wrapped candies & striped candies as possible also a spotted candy with a horizontal striped candy as many times as possible as well .. but you need to have many of that same coloured candy for it to have any effect. I'll keep plugging away at it & see how I go. Good luck everyone :)

Whew! Finally passed Level 181. What a nightmare Level, to say the least. Lot's stripped to hit the side columns! Then toss in LUCK!

When I see comments I know it is going to be a tough level. Thanks Candy Crush for taking the fun out.

Anonymous said...

This level is far to difficult, it's purely for forcing people into lining kings pockets.

Anonymous said...

So, what is the requirement to pass this level? 200 lives before you get the "lucky" board? Rediculous that it has nothing to do with strategy.

Anonymous said...

I see a lot of folks complaining about spending money? These games are free. I am at level 181 and will not, and never have, spent a dime. Persevere and look for the next moves. What will fall if you take out a candy.?
If u have money to spare so be it, enjoy and I mean that nicely.
Just know they are all passable. I know a person who is at Level 323 and has never spent a dime. Use the games for fun and entertainment. Have a great day all.

Anonymous said...

Two wrapped candies put together on the very edge of the board will also reach the blocks you need to hit. It is pretty hard to get that twice on different sides of the board in one game though.

Anonymous said...

The reason people complain about money is because the level is made to be so hard that it is nearly impossible to pass without purchasing boosters. The game is super fun, you want to play more and more, and then you get a level like this one. Similar to a bait-n-switch.
A computer can not be random, it only does what it is programmed to do, therefore the difficulty is chosen by King. Plus, this game makes plenty of money from advertisers, far more than in-game purchases.

What FINALLY worked for me: I logged out of facebook and reset my progress. Then I played the beginning levels until I earned the power-ups. I cleared my browser, logged back in to facebook and it synced progress, keeping the power-ups. After a few tries I was able to get the sides down to one move and used the lollipop hammers to finish. The striped/wrapped combo can be a great way to start since it opens up the board, but only if they are directly next to each other. Otherwise, they are wasted if you only have one move.

Been stuck on this one awhile.......getting frustrated. Nothing seems to work. All kinds of combos. And still here.

Anonymous said...

Yep still here after 6 days well nearly a week now.But will keep trying till I pass this stupid Level 181 :(

Anonymous said...

I've read all of the comments on almost every level and see people complaining about the games being so hard. I just thought these complainers were soft, but this level has me so frustrated, that I am now among the complainers!!!! I keep trying, but it is so disappointing, and really not much fun. Definitely the toughest lever for me so far. Good luck everyone.

Anonymous said...

Been stuck on this level too long. Nothing seems to be working. Add to that the fact that 388 lives have just vanished....about ready to throw in the towel.

Anonymous said...

Firstly you need to open up the central area, so its a good idea to work to the edges.

Make a striped candy by moving a piece sideways to make a line of 4!

The sideways striped candy helps to blast the two side columns.

Once you’ve got some play area try for combos.

Don’t go for a color ball because it just doesn’t help on this level

Try going more for the combos and ignore the columns

The best thing to get is a stripe with a wrapped and make sure you place it correctly for the level you want to combine them

Anonymous said...

♥ Got it on my first try reading these tips! Great tips! Wrapped candy + Striped candy 2 or 3 times helped a lot!

Anonymous said...

Wow! Whew! After being stuck on this level for a few days I read all the comments here and decided to purchase lollipops. I don't know how many striped candies I used, but it does help to combine sideway striped with sprinkled or wrapped. Before I just wasn't making sure I was getting enough side striped. With two moves left I tried but failed to clear the final two blocks. With one move left I used the lollipops to remove them. Maybe you can clear all the blocks without purchasing a booster but it would take weeks. I Do Not have the ability to wait! I'm a person who must win and move on within a reasonable time or it's not fun. If it's not fun why play? We are all different types of people, with different abilities and temperaments so let's not judge one another but help one another by explaining how we passed a level.

Anonymous said...

I have been stuck on this level for so long now that if I ever do by some stroke of luck get through it I will be in total shock!!!

Anonymous said...

I just passed it after many days. It's an epic feeling when you finally pass and I'm drinking a dos equis right now to celebrate. Sadly the next level doesn't seems much easier and it's a blasted timed level which I hate!

Anonymous said...

kinda thinking to stop playin candy crueh bcoz of this level, not too fun anymore

Anonymous said...

Keep returning to this page looking for help to pass this level. Been stuck for weeks. Tried all the tips but buying boosters which I refuse to do. Starting to get more bored than frustrated. Maybe that's a good sign?

Anonymous said...

Been on this level for 3 weeks. Two people I know passed it first or second time. May have to stop playing as getting really frustrated!

Anonymous said...

How did you reset your progress? & how did you play the beginning levels without signing in to Facebook?

Anonymous said...

What a frustrating level., 2 days later and I've got close once, one stripe short of blasting the last two to release my apples. Lucky I can get extra lives on the iphone by putting clock forward one day..he he..voila!! 5 lives..but u must put your clock back on auto before u start using the lives...setting, then set date and time......omg i want to get through this level so hard...so close..i don't know that buying extras will help though...just got to blast thru those layers..

Anonymous said...

I posted at 5.06 pm above..took me nearly 3 days..and with 3 moves left and one block left I spent the best 0.99c and bought the xtra moves as I had a stripe in the area I felt I could hit with luck..and yup!! i just needed this done AND IT'S the most challenging so far..just too hard..good luck to the rest of you..it can be done..it's just a matter of when

Anonymous said...

This level is a killer! Every move makes the side column move the same EXCEPT when we got the apple to fall all he way and then it only did it on one side! That happened twice. Why is every other move that hit them th same on both sides, except when the apple fell all the way through the teleport!

No purple candy on this level????

Anonymous said...

Passed it after ~20 tries. The wrapped/strip candies at the critical level helped the most. It cleared 3 rows in one shot. Great!

Rachel said...

I totally agree with the poster who said this level becomes more BORING than it is CHALLENGING! When it seems that it is impossible, it takes the challenge and the fun out of it. I have followed everyone's advice, and still been on it forever. Never even come close.

Rachel said...

PLEASE tell me there is more help for this level!!!! This one may do me in! I've been thru sooooooo many lives and not even CLOSE!!!!

Anonymous said...

I am stuck. Good to know I'm not the only one! My iPad isn't showing my messages center at all when people give me extra lives and moves. I have to check them on my droid to use them now. It just started. Anyone else having that issue? I'll have to ask all my friends for extra moves on this one! I really wish there were a way to win power ups and lollipops!

Need update on Tablet

you will find with more difficult level

Lets play...

Ive been blasting through the levels by going forward on my date and time... i can play for hours... this is a difficult level for sure!

Anonymous said...

I've gone through 200 lives on this level and I think it's the level that's going to make me quit playing this game.... frustrating as hell.

Anonymous said...

Yes!!! Finally passed after about one week. People say luck but it does involve skill with placement of horizontal striped and engaging combos of wrapped/striped and chocoball/striped in the right rows to clear path for the cherries to drop out. Patience will get you through eventually.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the help. I cannot believe I got to level 181 and never knew that the stripes tell which way they will go (horizontal or vertical). They never taught that in college. Should be added to the curriculum. Have a good day and thanks again.

Anonymous said...

I have given myself till a certain date then quitting this game if I haven't passed this level. I refuse to spend money on a game that is suppose to be free. Too bad they had to ruin the game....I like a challenge but this is ridiculous !!!!!

Anonymous said...

Level 181 is one of the hardest level I have come across. Been stuck too long! I am ready to quit. It's too frustrating. I read all the tips & cheats and no luck! Even with 5 extra moves would not even help me. CC is a great game until now.

Anonymous said...

I find the best method is to enjoy each game as a standalone without being concerned about progress - sometimes I get disappointed when I complete a game because I have been enjoying it so much. It's like life: enjoy where you are now and don't focus on the future. This is a really difficult and fun level ;-)

Vintageandjournals said...

there is no joy in playing this level
already for a half year now!
Why not say after ???? trying let
people pass a level.. it should be
fun and not frustrating.. I wonder
if the makers play it themselves lol..

i guess they would do something about it.
I know lots of people stopped playing
they could not pass this level.. I can
understand that!!

I have been on this level for a month now and am thinking of giving up on candie crush.I really enjoyed doing it until this level there just does not seem any hope of passing this level hoping for a miracle

Anonymous said...

This was the nastiest level so far, but I did get it on the 12th try (or thereabouts, less than a day trying). It does take some luck, and there's the fact that some of the useful tools on some levels are not so useful here, like striped/sparkly bomb combos might clear one or two levels of cream on the side column. Striped/wrapped combos are more useful. There are (by my count) fourteen levels of cream to clear to get the cherries to drop, so you need fourteen sideways-blasting candies or their equivalents. One thing I realized when playing this level is to form the striped candies high in the central columns, and then carefully manoeuvre them into the right row before setting them off. This was most useful near the end of the game when moves were running out and I had two creams to get rid of. Carefully moving the striped candies to the right row worked and I completed the level--and the app didn't crash on Facebook like it sometimes does. This was definitely a challenging level, but no boosters nor extra moves were needed.

Completed third attempt on pc much easier than phone.

This level is absolutely horrendous. Ready to quit.

I too had resigned myself to being on this level Forever, however after one week and 100 lives, finally passed it. Some tips to add: don't hesitate to use color bombs on plain candies as this will clear the board of those colors making it easier to form stripes of another color. Also a combo of vertical stripe with a wrap still clears the slde columbs. Good luck, it is doable!

After playing this levelz for weeks....I said to heck with it...saved my lollipops (3) then got az close as I could...bought extra lives...
I know but I had to get off this level...then bamm pops...onto to the next level....that level sucked!

Harry said...

This level feels impossible without using boosters...even with boosters it's hard.

Anonymous said...

I just missed it by one move!!
But after 2 Days i came pretty close quite often, so i dont think buying boosters is needed..
My Strategy fo far by Priority:
1-Striped and Wrapped Combos
2-Horizontal Stripes
3-ColorBomb and Stripes

Dont waste Time putting a ColorBomb together and look carefully for Wrapped.. Good Luck!

Anonymous said...

i wrote the comment before and forgot something..
Dont waste Moves and put too much Work into creating Specials Candys..
if the Board is clear they come by
randomly since there are just 5 Colors in this Level.

Anonymous said...

How do you get wrapped candies?

Anonymous said...

What combinations do you have to make to get the ingrediants to move down?

Anonymous said...

Enough is enough this is boring and fustrating to say the least, "I'm Out".

Anonymous said...

cherylcandycrush here.

My second time around & just popped in to say horizontal stripes on their own won't cut it.

Best things are wrap/stripe combos so make a wrap at any opportunity and try to get it into the right zone.

Colour ball/stripe can be good but only if with a stripe colour that is plentiful, otherwise a wrap/stripe works better.

Some boosters don't work well. Don't bother too much with those you tick beforehand, but a lollipop hammer or red hand might be useful towards the end.

And take heart. The right board eventually comes along and if you can get through this one, you'll be fine. It is harder than level 734 & 735 anyway.
