Tips for level 404 Candy Crush Saga

There is a single layer of jelly under all the cream below the choc  machines.
There are 2 ways to clear this level, the first is shown above using the jelly fish to clear the jelly from under the cream.
Clear as much jelly from the top as possible before you uncover any fish. Once the fish are uncovered you can't avoid losing one to the chocolate, but with careful planning you can use all the others to clear jelly.. Watch for any squares untouched by the fish and those will be the ones you need to clear totally.
The second way is to blast everything with combo's!
Stripes, stripe/wraps and colour bomb/stripes will clear the jelly and cream.. Here is the second video showing this method.

Jazz's tips.
The problem with level 404  is that you need to keep track of which squares the jelly fish have already taken out for you.
You can't see the jelly under all the meringues, so it's more like a game of concentration.
Start by clearing as much jelly from
the top half as you can without setting off the jelly fish.
They will go for whichever jelly is left on the board, so if you still have candy with jelly underneath up top, they may go for that instead, and fail to help you with the bottom section.
Once the top jelly is cleared set off the jelly fish and keep track of which squares they're getting. Also work on vertical candy to break through the meringues to try and find the remaining jelly squares if you're not sure. It's a tricky level, but you will hit the right squares eventually.

I've tried the first way a couple of times and have managed to use the fish to clear the top layer of cream on the bottom layer. But the game doesn't end! Do I have a different version? Think I'm going to be stuck on this one for weeks.

I misread your instructions - I've now completed the level! Thanks for your help.

HELP! This level is evil. Trying to get the bottom left and right side jellies uncovered takes a LOT of luck! Been stuck forever...

Got lucky. The fish are uncovered quite early, but by pure chance none were destroyed by chocolate (the first one matched right away) and all of them attacked the bottom rows. Still not sure how that happened...

Thank you !! I'd been struggling with this level for a couple days, watched your video, took your advice, went for method 1 and completed the level on the first try !!!!

I always lose count even doing screen copy. Finally got it a mixture of clearing the blocks above and releasing fish. I did lose count and was hoping the last jelly i had exposed was it. It was. Dean

There is no good planning at all. Each jelly fish can clear 3 jellies under cream, if we lost one of them by chocolate, we loose. That's all. I have noticed you have another jelly fish outside the cover. How come?

I just completed with 30 moves to spare, I got a freckle to match with a fish which made more fish above the chocolate machines ( there still needs to be jelly above the chocolate for the fish to head in this direction), then Voila, I had more fish to play with. A few moves later (10ish from memory) The jellies were completely knocked out with one striped/wrapped combo to finish off. Good Luck

Jeez, this is one evil level. You'd need 100 moves to pass it lol

Just completed using method one on the PC. Only ten attempts.

Second try beat it.
Clear as many jelly as possible on top first, and then use the combos to clear some of the bottom ones.
Problem is you don't know which block has jelly hidden. Need luck.

I wonder if this is one that is easier on the PC. I did it on my 2nd attempt. Not sure exactly how.

I hate this level. I have no idea where the jellies are at the bottom and keep getting close. Just got within one jelly and forgot I had a lollipop hammer. Gutted. Can't believe there aren't more comments on this level.

This level had me scratching my head. On my second try, I got the bottom almost totally full of candies and just kept making combos but I ran out of moves. On my third try, I had barely any candies on the bottom and suddenly it said "Sugar Crush" WTH???

Anonymous said...

Did this one, finally, on an ipad and without boosters.

First, get all the jelly without freeing the fish.

Then, free the fish without losing any to the chocolate - hard but doable eventually.

The fish will then eat all the jelly under the blocks.

Simple but not easy - took a lot of lives to get a good board.

Anonymous said...

Sorry - clarifying - "get all the jelly without freeing the fish" - I meant the upper jelly - hope that's more clear.

Cookie Kirby, how do u get those 2 starter fish? In your video u start with a blue and a green drops before u release any fish! This level is hard but we can do it we made it this far! I still LOVE to hate u Candy Crush, lol.

I can't make any sense of where the jellies are at the bottom!! It says I have 51 if 54 but can't make out where the others are!!!! Stupid level.

Anonymous said...

I posted yesterday about not making any sense in where the jellies are. This morning I go on and my last fish hits a few and BAM, it was over. There's a glitch in the game. I was doing the exact same thing yesterday but it would never end. Glad it's over.

Anonymous said...

I can't seem to find exactly where the Jellys are either!!!!

I've been lurking this site for a few months now and you guys have helped me get past many levels. I really appreciate that. Your tips on this level are great but I'm having a hard time executing them. Also, the fish seem a little glitchy, I've mixed them with sprinkled candies and they only eat jellies a couple of times. Has anyone experienced this? Another reason I'm posting is because I'm hoping somehow I'll miraculously beat the level. :-)

Oh to get one of those wonderful boards like in the videos instead of the ridiculous ones I keep getting :)

Very strange = just got the level through pure fluke. Unable to see what is going on under the jelly = but apparently I cleared it. Wish I could remember how I did it. Sorry. Just remember you cannot see the jelly being cleared as it looked like a full board when I won.

I came here earlier this morning to see people comments that could help and after 10 hours solid playing this level I have got no where near to clearing the board ,I find it extremely hard and most times never ever even get any fruits falling down below the chocolate , I need a miracle . Thats what I get for being so smug with the previous 3 levels lol they were so easy ,this is the hardest level in a while ,hopefully I will clear it soon .

I still don't understand what is needed to win this level, but after about 50 tries I did it. I did the first suggestion on this blog.

Ok so I read the above comments and tried eliminating the jelly above the fish without uncovering any fish. I lost 1 fish to chocolate so I had 3 jellies down below left to find and eliminate. I can see a faint line around the squares of cream that still have jelly underneath. Then it's just vertical stripes and striped/wrapped combos to get to those creams. You can also help eliminate the creams that have been hit by fish by looking at them. The top row, after hit has 1 layer left, the second has 2 left and the 3rd has 3 left. Take a minute to study the cream rows before you start your game & you'll see what I mean. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I love this game.. Spent lots of time and money on it.. But this level is probably going to be the one that makes me stop playing the game!! Sad.

cleared after 3rd attempt i just played a normal game if fish went first bad luck things took place well after some luck with 2 freckles and striped combos cleared all the board top n bottom was easy level for me

LJM said...

I wasted a few life's trying normal combinations. Then I realized I was doing it wrong. Every chance you have to make a color bomb, do it. If you can't mix it with a striped candy, don't worry. Use them to systematically wipe out candies at the bottom. 5 color bombs, mixed 2 with stripes, cleared the level with 11 moves left, no boosters on mobile.

Grrrrrr. Ive read the destructions, ive read it took almost half of you get this in 3 moves, or 30 to spare... (who cares.:-) )
Ive used about 50+ freaking lives on this level and i still cant get the lid off my meds!!! Lol this level will be the death of me dag namit. Luvin to hate candy crush...needs rehab

Got the message only had one jelly left - how do you know where the jelly are? Can't believe I got this far and can't figure this out - help please.

What a nasty level. As others have said, the only realistic way to get this level is to clear all the jelly in the top part of the board, and then free the fish. This usually costs one fish consumed by chocolate. Otherwise, vertical blasters are needed to clear the remaining jelly hiding underneath the blocking cream, and the spots with the remaining jelly have to be hit repeatedly with vertical blasting stripes or striped/wrapped combos. That is hard. I got close once, as I had the good fortune to get a striped/wrapped combo in the lower part of the board, but I ended up needing one more jelly. Finally, on the 27th try, I got the lucky break. I did not clear the jelly on top before freeing a fish in a cascade, but a following cascade turned that fish loose. It was not lost to chocolate! I could see the level finally being won. I cleared the remaining jelly on top before releasing more fish, and then the next twelve or so moves were freeing fish. When the last fish was free, with about twenty moves to go, I got the "sugar crush" that told me the level was won. This was a weird level, as the player has to figure out the strategy to use (or check out the tips here) and then get a lucky board where that strategy could be used completely. I finally got my lucky board and got off this level.

HELP!!! I do not understand. I have cleared all jelly on top and still have all the fish except the first one the choc took. have used all the fish, was careful not to get any stripes to hit any of the bottom squares. so why are the fish not clearing all for me to complete???? I have been stuck on this for weeks and want to be done with it. please someone tell me what I am doing wrong....

Anonymous said...

I posted above asking for help. I gave up trying to clear with the fish and started trying to clear all with choc bombs, stripes and wrapped candies and finally did it. so those that are stuck using the fish try clearing all and to hell with the fish because that way SUCKS!!!

Anonymous said...

Gonna keep trying I guess! Tips help but I can't keep track of which blocks the fish hit or don't hit! Right!

Anonymous said...

Geesh! I spent so much time on this level before coming to this blog. I read through the hints, and using only fish was able to get through on my very next try!! I paid attention to activating fish while avoiding the chocolate and didn't pay any attention to the jelly - I didn't need to know where it was, cuz the fish knew!

cherylcandycrush here.

Clear as much of the top as you can, then as many combos as you can and hope for the best.
There is jelly under everything on the bottom, as far as I can make out. It is a horrid level as you can't really see where the jelly is left. I was thrilled to have it say I was through as I had no idea when I had cleared the final jelly.
Just one warning. Again, as far as I can make out, there is no advantage to combine a fish with a special candy. It is not like some other levels where that gives you extra fish. You just get 3 no matter what. So if you have a vertical stripe, don't waste it by combining with a fish if you can help it.
Good luck. I got through in about a day but it is not my fav level as I could not see the jelly spots. I like to at least know what is left to do.

Kazza the Blank One said...

Just use a jelly fish booster. The extra fish will make it easy to get the hidden jellies

Did I get lucky? I got it on my 3rd go with 3 stars. I focused on combining fish with stripes in order to open up the lower level (which they did every time except once). The top jellies looked after themselves. I tried to make as many horizontal stripes as possible. I ended up with two choc sprinkles which fell to the lower half of the board. I didn't worry about the chocolate

I should check the blog sooner! Tried this level more than 50 times with no success but after reading this and watching the video passed it first time using the fish. I was helped by getting a stripe/wrap combo fall through to the bottom as well. very easy when you know how.
