Candy Crush Saga Level 1988 tips and video

Hints and tips showing how to pass level  1988 Candy Crush Saga without boosters by Cookie
Level 1988 is classified as a hard level so you can expect to lose a few lives before you pass it.
You need to score 100,000 points in 35 moves. To get the required points you will need to release the bombs from the dispensers by clearing the blocker that is holding them back.
The bombs are only 8 moves, so once released they are going to be a priority for you both to score the points needed and also to keep the game going to the end as you have to use all 35 moves.
If you just want to pass with the minimum score you can just unlock the bombs on one side. This will make the bombs easier to control as you only have one lot to worry about. But if you want to get the best score possible then you will need to release both sets of bombs and keep them under control using colour bombs.

this is looking pretty impossible...

really frustrating level. probably mostly luck

Absolutely impossible as far as I can work out. Have spent so many lives and can't even start on the score chart. Have used the tips given and tried various ways of playing but got absolutely nowhere. Have struggled on quite a few levels getting this far but this really really seems impossible. Totally demoralised :-(

got it finally...lucky board really. got several sprinkles. just opened up one side. still had to use a hammer and a hand switch. glad that's over though

Played this twice and thought this was absolutely impossible. Next board. Released the bombs well before 8 moves left and got two stripe/wrap combos at the right times to pass the level. Was very prepared to use Lollipop Hammers or switches, but none needed. On to the next...

I haven't completed this yet, but have some thoughts. First blow away the cream blockers as fast as you can to make room for specials.

When you can, save your sprinkle bombs until the timed bombs are released. Then drop as many timed bombs as you can to get a lot of one color, and blow up that color with the sprinkle bomb.

Once you have bombs moving on the board, the points are not much of a problem. Just try to stay alive as the timer bombs count down.

Ok, now I've completed it and have further thoughts. First, clear the middle of cream so that you can make a color/sprinkle bomb. You'll want to switch that bomb with the same color as the stripe at the top of the screen - but NOT YET. The timed bombs will have 8 turns on them, so save your bomb until you only have 8 moves left, then use it to fire the stripe and release the timed bombs. In the meantime, try to set up some stripes and wraps for those last 8 moves. In your last 8 moves, you have to make one more color/sprinkle bomb, get a bunch of timed bombs of the same color (at least three), and then use the sprinkle on that color. Because you waited, you won't have to worry about the timers.

Passed on the 7th try. Wrap/Sprinkle after bombs fell gave me 143,000 on one move. Had to use a few hammers as the bombs were counting down and I had not yet completed all of the moves. Moving on...

Thanks to Anonymous 22 September for great tip. Followed this advice and made 2 sprinkle balls which I was able to save until last 8 moves. Used one on the top stripe and matched the 2nd with 3 same color bombs and passed 1st time with one star.

Yap, thanks for the tip anonymous sept 22nd. It worked for me on first try. Just try to make and save your sprinkled choco balls (two balls worked perfectly for me) until 8 moves left and use one of them on the colour candy of the striped on top, the other one on a colour candy of at least 3 released bombs. Didn't have to use any boosters. Happy crushing!

Great tip! Held off releasing bombs and finished first try. Thx!

Great tip from anonymous. Thank you!

Got this on the third try using the approach I came up with, and this should work as long as you are content to pass the level and not worry about running up the score. In the early stages, concentrate on clearing the cream to open up the board and also try to form a colour bomb, but don't use it, nor release the bombs. Also try to get a vertical-firing stripe in the centre or on the sides. Once there are eight moves left, use the vertical-firing stripe to trip the stripe at top or to clear a cream blocker below the bomb dispenser. Then either use or move to position to swap the colour bomb with the colour with the most bombs. This should give you the necessary 100,000 points (it did in both of my attempts, but in the first, I did this with more than eight moves left and so could not clear the remaining bombs). I got this level on the third try using no boosters. I also noticed that the bombs fall to the main part of the board one at a time, so if you clear three candies underneath the bomb dispenser, only one bomb and three regular candies and not three bombs fall into the main section of the board, making it harder to control the bombs.

This level seemed horrendous at first but the trick is to remove all the meringue from the middle and make sprinkle bombs, don't release the bombs until you have 8 moves or fewer. The sprinkle bombs alone get more than the minimum score so the points from the bombs aren't needed

Second try. Stared with a free color bomb booster I left the bomb dispensers blocked until the bottom was mostly clear. Had one color bomb set next to a candy that would fire the stripe at the top to release bombs. Also another color bomb doing nothing in particular. THEN I wasted moves until there were only 8 moves left. THEN I released the bombs when there would not be enough moves left for one to go off. Matched the remaining color bomb to blow the most bombs possible. Then just needed to mop up a few more bombs to get to one star.

Perfect advice! Passed with 3 stars!

I did the same thing the others are posting about. I tried playing this various ways, then discovered that I could probably easily beat it within 8 moves, if I only held off on releasing the bombs. I had a chocolate sprinkle, which I ignored and just played on one half of the board. When I got down to seven moves, I released the bombs and was able to get enough to get the required points.

Great advice to use a sprinkle with the color of the stripe at the top. AFTER there are less than 8 moves left!

Krusher said...

Yes - great tip. I had my colour bomb in place very early and had to play about a dozen moves being careful not to accidentally detonate it early!

Anonymous said...

I'm not liking this one!

Anonymous said...

Appreciate the tips, but I just can't PASS it πŸ˜•

Anonymous said...

Is anyone having problems with this level to load? I'm playing on a iPad and am not on FB.

Anonymous said...

Oh darn! My game won't load on this level 😒😒😒

cvbcb said...

Thank you for the tip on the sprinkle / wrapped combo. I was able to keep the bombs from dropping until 8 moves remained. I used a hammer to situate a sprinkle and wrapped side by side. Finished the game with 154,000 points without ever having come close in previous attempts. Good riddance to this level!

Stripe/wrap combo booster and unlock bombs on only one side worked for me.

Unknown said...

how come in the video the bombs explode at the end of moves to give the score,i got 98000 and ran out of moves and the bombs do not explode for me,very annoying or cheating

Anonymous said...

Not sure what I'm doing wrong!!! I can't pass it!! So 😑

Anonymous said...

Understand the comments on what needs to be done to pass just cannot get all those elements needed to do it. Cannot keep a color bomb that long. Cannot get bombs to come down at the right time. Too many elements to coordinate. It will be luck again that gets it done.

Wow, finally reached a level that has cured me of my candy crush addiction. An impossible, boring level. I'm done.

Anonymous said...

Ok, I'm done. Will not be playing anymore. I guess you won't be getting my money anymore. Taking a trip to California next week, so bye bye king.com.

cherylcandycrush here:

Not all that well designed a level, because it's not about playing well to get through. Medium difficulty.
If you play safe, no matter how brilliantly and with cunning combos that don't release the bombs (as I tried), you won't get far.

You have to release the bombs to get the scores high enough.

Try to clear a bit of the cream first then just go for it, get the bombs cascading out, more the merrier.

UGH, UGH, UGH again! I'm so over these impossible levels. I've used all my boosters, had an extra hour to play, and have tried EVERYTHING! This level, as most of them are now, will only be beaten when King wants you too. I'm about over it.

Anonymous said...

Tx for great tips, love these pages. Waited till 8 moves left then released bombs...it worked first time like that with high score but even if it failed would have been much more fun to play then the bomb fest I had before trying this method!

Judy said...

Should have come here first. Didn't realize you have to use all 35 moves. I made 101,000 after combining a sprinkle and wrap. But I did it with nine moves left apparently. And have no hammers or hand switches or any way to get that. one. last. bomb.

Robin said...

Great advice. Bombs got released early (10 moves left) but was able to get them under control. Passed with 1 star but I am good with that! Moving on..

Thank you Anonymous 22. Great tip 1st try!

Thanks for that great tip to keep a Colour Bomb to play at the end. When my Colour Bomb detonated on it's own I thought my goose was cooked but I was able to make another one and managed to squeak through with One Star. I was unable to set up a vertical stripe to hit the top horizontal stripe so I hit it with a Hammer. Hated to have to do that as I'm low on Hammers, but after watching the video I just wanted to get the score and move on. Good luck to those who are still playing. MM Toronto

I appreciated all the tips and they make perfect sense....but I can't keep the sprinkles and stripes from prematurely exploding. Have no stored up boosters..how about a bit of luck thrown my way?

Anonymous said...

Another boring, impossible, pointless level! Why ....... getting so sick of shit levels. 😴

Unknown said...

Fantastic advice, passed on the first try with this strategy! Thank you.

Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh, this is driving me crazy!

dit level is gewoon helemaal niks aan om te spelen. WAT EEN BELACHELIJK LEVEL. Verzin iets anders.

Tough level. See ya quitters!

Carole said...

Really? Another level that you have to wait for a lucky board.. geeez

Anonymous said...

Tried everything bombs get me seriously cc there is hard but this level is hard + very boring

Silverdollarbill said...

Finally got it after several days, NBU. The trick for me was not hitting the 2 top corner squares until I down to 7 moves left. In the meantime I collected special candies, which when they were all hit, put me over 100000.

Anonymous said...

This is just enough to drive me insane. I hate the fine balance games and I can never get the timing right. I'm tearing my hair out after 3 days of this!

Westcar said...

Great tip. Make two color/sprinkle bombs. Hold them until 8 plays left. Then activate one of them on the striped in the middle at the top. Then use the second color/sprinkle on a bomb that has at least three of its color. You get lots of points and the game just winds down.

Anonymous said...

I had a pretty low score but after my last move the points I received for the two chocolate sprinkles put me over 100000. I did not have to release any bombs!!

Unknown said...

Great advice. Passed it within 3 tries after reading this. Year 1988 is the bomb by the way! Not to give away my age or anything...

Anonymous said...

I used a stripe/wrap booster and restarted a few times so that I opened up with a first move to keep the bombs falling from one side. Than I only played on that side of the board and was able to control the bombs. I finnished in one try withnthis method.

Anonymous said...

Passed straight away after following your advice! Thank you.

Anonymous said...

Have tried everything and still no luck!!! Getting so frustrated!!! Feel like quitting.😨

iMac said...

Same...hate these levels

Anonymous said...

Tried the waiting thing but left it too late and couldn't get a sprinkle to hit some bombs so not enough points. I hate this level. I need a lucky board please.

snow said...

I saved a sprinkle and made all the special candys I could then when there were 7 moves left i had 1 vertical stripe in the center and that hit the top stripe and released the bombs and left all special candy's and sprinkle till the end gave me more than enough points
