The rainbow twist is a new blocker which is introduced at level 5676. Although after this post is written it may well be inserted into earlier levels.
The rainbow twists can have from one to five different colours and the more colours it has the more times it will need to be hit to clear it.

The rainbow twists can either be single blockers or joined together in chains and clearing any of the RT's in one chain will clear all that are joined to it. For this reason it is always a good idea to aim for just one RT in a chain to clear it more quickly.
If the Rainbow Twists are not joined to any others you will have to clear them individually.
When the Rainbow Twists are covered by either marmalade or crystal candies they are not joined together, but as you clear the covering they will join together into a chain and be easier to clear.
