Candy Crush Saga Level 288

Hints and tips showing how to pass level 288 Candy Crush Saga without boosters
My strategy was the following:

Use a vertical striped candy to hit one of the striped candies on the 2nd bottom row, then use another vertical striped candy to hit that same candy to open up the other ones on the side.

Then you make another vertical candy, hit one of those horizontal candies, and you have the entire cleared up. Also, you should try NOT TO eliminate the bottom candy if one of those horizontal striped candies are open because they will fall there if that happens.

Once you get that done, you can proceed with the level as usual. AVOID MOVING THE INGREDIENTS! Striped+striped and striped+wrapped combos are the best, as long as they are around the column in which the ingredients should fall. :P
Good luck!

If the level you play is different from the one here it is because the developers have changed it since I played and I have no control over this. Please let me know on our FB group and I will try to change it.

I'm having a hard time - any tips?

Me too. No tips but if you get any tell me :)

This level is downright frustrating and annoying.

Anonymous said...

Worst level yet!!! TOTALLY STUCK!

Anonymous said...

Just combine striped candy and wrapped candy or hit the striped ones along the bottom. Ta-da.

Anonymous said...

you make it sound easy lol........285 was INSANE!! So far and again, I am ready to throw my phone and pc out the window!!!<:(

Hit the candy's at the bottom 4 times with stripes and still no go, think its down to luck and NOT strategy.

Anonymous said...

Stupid stupid level!!!! Ugh so frustrating. I'm sure once I get a little luck and some combo candies, it'll go well, but right now UGH

Best thing to do is to initially try to hit the horizontal striped candies on the second to bottom row, and NOT hit any of the candies on the bottom. If you can repeatedly hit them, either with vertical striped candies above, or better yet, a dotted candy, then it can quickly eliminate that whole row, making the level easy.

^ Yes, what Anonymous said. I kept trying to wipe out the "stones" using horizontally striped candies, and got nowhere. Then by accident I discovered that the striped candies in the 2nd to last row would wipe out the whole row of stones.

So. Use a horizontally wrapped candy to "unwrap" one of the striped candies in the second to last row. Then get a sprinkle candy with a striped candy of that color, which will wipe out all the stones in that second to last row. Then proceed as usual.

I have been trying the strategy you guys laid out, but after a while I will hit the striped candies at the bottom by using another striped candy from above...and nothing happens with the bottom striped canadies?!?!?!? wtf

Thanks. I'm going to try this. If it doesn't work I'm throwing away my ipad :)

maebee said...

Thanks Anon. It worked. Right after I posted here, I passed it :)

I've had that same problem yesterday. I tried to get one of the above striped candies to hit the bottom striped candy & nothing happened to it. If it were different, I would've completed the level but instead, it stayed & I'm stuck big time. It's crazy!

Anonymous said...

♥ Took me many tries. I kept getting so close and finally got it. Key is to make as many vertical stripes as you can. Color ball + Striped works great to speed things up.

Kevin's strategy worked for me. Got it on my third try after reading his tip. I hit the second last row striped candy twice and that cleared the entire bottom row for me. Then the rest was easy nough. Dont swap the fruits from their vertical column, else you will get stuck. Just continue uing vertical striped and wrapped candy or striped and speckled candies nd u should b ble to complete this level.

Anonymous said...

Great tips but cannot get the moves to put them in place. Seems that you have to hit the stones on the 2nd to bottom row 3 or more times and still not entirely gone?
VERY frustrating level, almost at the quitting stage :(

Anonymous said...

Totally frustrated by this level and causing me more problems than any other until I read the tips here. Thanks guys it is easy when you know the strategy. Concentrate on clearing the 2nd bottom row by hitting the striped candies with vertical stripes. Keep the cherries and nuts in the columns they fall and this is quite an easy level to complete.

Anonymous said...

This level sucks. tried all the combo still stuck. this may be where i throw in the towel. Not fun anymore.

Anonymous said...

Kevin's hint help. One has to resist the temptation for easy path to create stripes. Before you hit the stripes on the bottom, don't create any stripe that is on top of the blocks of the bottom row. Else, it may accidentally blow away the bottom candy.

A big thank you to Kevin S! After being stuck for at least a week I finally passed this level after coming to this forum and reading the comments.

Anonymous said...

I have being stuck on this level for two weeks, got down to needing one but could not pass the level, I have used striped wrap and color bombs but no luck, this level is nerve wrecking..

Anonymous said...

Kevin's suggestion doesn't work for me. Tried it over and over again but every time I hit one of the stripped candies, it falls into one of the 4 bottom spaces. WHT??? This level makes no freaking sense. I've never been stuck on a level for more than a day or two but I'm having a lot of problems with this one.

Anonymous said...

Thank you for the tips about the vertical stripes once I got a board that I do the suggestion on striped candies I got it with 9 moves to go with no boosters. I just would like to say not to give up even though its frustrating thanks for the tips

I read all the comments and suggestions...even tried it. Still don't get it. Answer this simple question, what makes the fruit drop thru the vortex? That's all I need to know and I can figure the rest out.

Unknown said...

The blocks on the bottom row are where the fruit come through, that's why everyone says to make the vertical candy to hit the candy on the second row.
My problem is every time I hit the striped candy on the second row it falls!?!?! I'm hitting it with the jelly cover on it! It should stay put!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Good tips, got it on the second try

"My problem is every time I hit the striped candy on the second row it falls!?!?! I'm hitting it with the jelly cover on it! It should stay put!!!!!"

I haven't passed it yet, but I think I can answer this. My guess is you're clearing with a wrapped-striped combo. That will clear a spot on the lowest row, and the striped candy you released on the second row will plop down to fill that empty spot. Aargh! It seems the only way to do it without the horizontal candy falling is to just clear the row with a single vertical striped piece.

Anonymous said...

Read Kevin's comment carefully. Made it after a few tries then, turned out not to be as hard as other levels before, thanks! Key is, you must not destroy any of the candies in the bottom row before you've cleared the row above!

Anonymous said...

I was not successful in getting 3 vertical stripes on the same column. Ugg. Then, behold, I got 2 sparkle balls side by side. Whoo Hoo! All gone in one swipe.

Anonymous said...

Yay made it made it hooray! Thank you all for the tips, I was stuck for 17 days on this frigging level! Ronnie

I do not see how you can ever expect to get 2 vertical stripes in a row over the same column. It takes for too many moves to set this up. On the rare occasions I have gotten the stripes in the next to last row to open up and have been able to explode them they DO NOT take out all the concrete. I have no idea what you people are taking about in regard to that. It is also next to impossible to take out that row WITHOUT taking out some of the ingredient columns. If you do there aren't nearly enough moves left to take out the top so the ingredients drop thru. I also fail to see how 2 sprinkle balls together will take out everything. The sprinkle balls barely do anything unless combined with a stripe and doing that still leaves concrete in the way. I doubt I ever pass this level. I'm glad it was so easy for some of you. I don't know what I'm missing or doing wrong.

I've read the written information and viewed the videos. I still don't get it. If I pass this level it will be by dumb luck.

I have managed to get rid of the blocks of icing in the bottom box thanks to all the tips ,but I can't seem to clear out the fruit even though nothing is blocking it. Any more tips ? X

Ugh.... welp.... im so about to give up.... :(

"D" said...

OK..... so another super hard level :( but I just completed it. I had read all the comments here before, tried everyones tips and it worked.

~I used as many vertical striped as possible to open up the horizontal striped on the bottom.

~DO NOT move the ingredients into other rows. They can only fall through the bottom in SOME of the rows, not all of them.

~I was able to use a combination striped/wrapped which wiped out a big section.

~I made 3 color bombs. One I used to remove 1 color; for the other two - I combined them with striped to wipe out more candies.

~On my last play I still had 8 moves left. I played a combo of color bomb & striped. Before I played it, though, I make sure I had A LOT of the color of the striped that I was using - to make sure I would have a good play and clear most of the board.

Don't give up - its so cool when you finally pass a level after being stuck for awhile. And I don't spend money on this game! I'm doing the happy dance right now! :)

Anonymous said...

how do you get the fruit down to the bottom half? It always stops in the top half. I am totally confused. I spend most of my moves breaking the candy behind the bars and getting rid of blank spaces. HELP!

Anonymous said...

I've got a headache just looking at this level!
I couldn't tell you how many times I've tried this level with no luck. Losing my love for this game and replacing it with frustration and grey hair. Especially this level

Hi just cannot get this level nothing seems to make any sense also on the sample video there s 2 ingredients but on my game there is 4 driving me potty

OMG! Hate the whiners. Come to this site for info. We've made it this far . Why bitch?

To get this level, you have to concentrate on clearing the blocking cream in the bottom part, and that is done by unfreezing a striped candy in the second-last row, then hitting it again and then hitting an unfrozen stripe again. This clears most of the blocking cream. Don't use vertical blasters in the ingredients' row until the stripes are cleared in the bottom section. Unfrozen stripes will fall into those empty spots in the bottom and they are useless there. Once the blocking cream is cleared as much as possible, concentrate on getting vertical blasters in the columns with the ingredients. Also, keep the ingredients in their columns, and should one shift, you'll have to move it back into its column. Also, striped/wrapped combos should not be used when there are stripes left in the bottom row (unless it takes out that stripe). I got this level on the seventeenth try, using no boosters or extra moves, and the only combo was a sparkly and a regular candy. Everything else was well-placed vertical-blasting stripes. Setting those up to drop ingredients is important because once the blocking cream is cleared, vertical blasters will drop the ingredients all the way.

I think that I am going to need 500 moves to clear this level.

Anonymous said...

Thank you so much for help on this level. I never would have gotten through it otherwise. After reading the comments here I was able to get through after just a few tries.

Enjoyable level. Avoid moving the fruit nuts sideways. Get the bottom stripes working then clear the way for the fruit to fall. Vertical stripes are then a great help.

Anonymous said...

c/candycrush here.
Wowee, hard level.

I found the main thing was to try for vertical striped candy, although any special candy will help if you detonate in the right place.

But on their own, striped candy won't do enough so try to save some. Aim for combos. A stripe and a wrap are good but a colour bomb and striped candy works great to clear a lot, so your ingredients will be able to fall through.
You will need a couple of good combos before you can clear this level. Eventually a good board will come along, just keep plugging away.

Anonymous said...

Thanks, Keven. I read your tip and got it on the first try after. (I was lucky and got a sprinkle ball, too.) Level done with 12 moves left. I had tried it at least 30 times before coming for your hint, thank you!

eliz said...

Great tips thanks! Cleared it first try after a morning of going it alone.

Anonymous said...

I finally passed this one, and like many of these difficult levels, it is the luck of the board I think. I had several wrapped/stripe combos that did most of the work. It was helpful here to read not to move any of the ingredients, because that was tempting. Thanks for all your tips

Anonymous said...

With all the ingredients coming down I find it very hard to even make horizontal candies to try to shoot at the striped candies in the bottom row. If I do make one or two they are never where I need them to be to hit the striped candies. I think this is the suckiest level I have encountered thus far. Whoever thought of this levels idea should he hung.

Anonymous said...

When I shoot a striped candy down to the lower row of striped locked candies it unlocks the candy and if I shoot another striped candy down to the striped unlocked candy it just moves it out of the row and never sets it off to explode the blocks. Totally worthless strategy from my point of view. I have no idea how to break open the bottom row unless I would get colored sprinkle balls and lots of them to mix with a striped candy.

Anonymous said...

No matter what I try the bottom row of blocks and striped locked candy will not open up. I tried combos of stripes, colored sprinkle balls and stripes and wrapped/striped combos and they are still blocking the ingredients. Nothing I do will open it up and then I am out of moves and game over.

Anonymous said...

Just keep on trying. Suddenly you have succes by using the advices above. Good luck too all of you.

Anonymous said...

Absolutely one of the tough ones. Concentrate on vertical stripes over the jelly stripes. When those are cleared, combos of wrapped and striped down near bottom.rows.

Been stuck on this level for weeks. read this post and the comments, and first try afterwards, doing my best to follow the tips, I'm thru!!Hooray!
