Hints and tips showing how to pass level 1998 Candy Crush Saga without boosters played by Cookie
Level 1998 is classified as a hard level, so you can expect to lose a few lives before you manage to pass it.
You have to collect 15 licorice and 60 cream blockers.

The licorice drops out of the dispensers into the bottom half of the board once you make room for them. So work on getting down into the bottom half of the board using stripes and wraps and any combination of the two.
Once you are down into the bottom part of the board make matches under the dispensers to allow the licorice to fall, make moves on alternate sides so you get licorice dropping both sides and try not to clear the licorice every move.
Keep track of how much licorice you need and make sure you allow as much as possible to drop before clearing it.
Working both sides will give you the best chance of getting enough for the orders you need.

Either they've changed it, or I got the lucky board we all dream about. Got it on my 4th try using just one hand switch and one set of 5 extra moves!
It can be done without multiple boosters.

I think they lowered the licorice to just 15 instead of 20, and more come out. I played it using all of the boosters you did and made it easily, with 12 moves to spare.
Yup lowered licorice from 30 to 15. Think now better chance.
I've played this a lot, but not getting it. I clear space below the dispenser, but the licorice only comes down half the time. How do you get the licorice down?
Impossible level, 30 licorice, 35 moves, and dat also come down 1 by 1, cleared all Icing in just 3 move bt ended up wid 13 licorice left. Heard a nerf has been done on dis level bt on android its still 30 licorice and dats next to Impossible or need a lot of extra moves to be purchased. Was eagerly waiting to play level 2000, bt dis level is a wall in between. Waiting for d nerf in android version also. King do it asap.
This level sucks!! 30 liquorice and they don't even fall like supposed to on my Android. Forget this!!

It's 30 licorice on the iPad, not 15, so I played it on my computer which needs only 15 licorice and got it on the second try.
Android and iPad players don't waste your time until it's nerfed. 60 blockers no problem. .30 licorice impossible. .even with boosters
Impossible on iPad! 35 move to get 30 licorice. Why are the games consistently harder on iPad? You can get the blockers, but not the licorice!
On ipad-I'll be back when they drop the licorice to 20!! Ridiculous :(

Please change the licorice to 15 on iPads and iPhones. It's impossible to get 30 when only 1 comes down. Ugh.
You are correct! I had blockers cleared, but only 1 licorice fell with 9 moves left. I think I had 4 licorice for remainder of the game. Impossible, for me, at least.
Suckiest level EVER. I SHOULD OF READ the posts before to play it on pc. Yes its only 15 licorice not 30. It sucks on android. I have no patience so I used all my gold bars to beat. King should be ashamed. Considering quitting once I pass 2000. Good luck,but try pc if u have one

Android (and probably all other devices that are not PC) users, don't bother
trying until they fix it.
You need to clear 30 licorices within 35 moves.
The licorice falls one by one (and only if you didn't blow one in the
previous move) so, this needs 30 moves.
That means you need to clear 30 licorices in 5 moves.
Taking into account that you start with 60 blockers so you will lose some
moves to clear them this level at this current configuration is impossible.
Period.
Don't waste your boosters, it will not help.
No other choice, play the sugar crush levels and wait till King fix it.

Ironically, it is not marked as hard level on Android (maybe because it is not hard, it is mathematically impossible...)

Everyone is correct. Licorice does not fall and there are 30 on the iPad. Impossible - even with boosters.
I just contacted King customer care about this issue. Let see if they respond. But no sense in playing until it's fixed.
Thanks for letting them know. It's pointless the way it's set up right now. How do they let levels like this get through with such big flaws?

What's really amazing is that when you play level 2000 the licorice drops like crazy....but of course you don't need licorice in that level.I'm just glad that this was not a "hard" level

My game asked for 30 licorice not 15, not good just used a ton of boosts o get through.
Best way to get bonuses is to play their challanges and find one that you can get to final level 5 to get reward with out using any candies bonuses.Use them to get through 5th level they will be replenished. Boring but collected 32 hammers 60 or more chocolate balls 30 combos 15 hand switches. Use some up on 5th level but still worth it.
My reply from Beth at King customer care was less than satisfactory. She did not address the fact that licorice requirements have been dropped to 15 from 30 on devices other than mobile devices. She referred me to blogs for tips and assured me I could get through this level without buying boosters. Oh well, guess that's it for me.

Guys, you can play now level 1998 on your mobile. King just reduce the licorice count from 30 to 6 this morning. Happy crushing until level 2000. Till next Wednesday.

They fix it, it is now doable.
First try after they fixed it, 3 stars, 281,300 and out of frustration, I used boosters.
Finally, on to the next.
Ha, I did the same! Cleared the cream blocks several time without boosters back when I was first playing the 30-licorice levels, but I was too impatient and fed up with this level to play till I did it naturally. Hammered my way out of the last couple blocks.
The boosters I used:
Started with sorinkle and tick, reset until one hammer enable me to set a second sprinkle near the sprinkle booster.
From there it was piece of cake.
Finished with 17 moves to spare.
Could finish even faster, but looked for more sprinkles to increase the points.
When I woke up this morning I checked level 1998 on my Android tablet and the licorice count was down from 30 to 6. This afternoon, I tried to replay level 1998 on my iPad and it still shows 30 licorice. Maybe they haven't corrected the iPad version. Am I right, iPad players?
I passed 1st try after the fix. I did not use boosters, and I'm not the world's greatest player.

Passed it first try_without boosters!was easy because of the modified version.
Still waiting for this level to be modified.im playing on iPad and have posted on this forum about this issue since the 30th of September so come on and help a crusher out and fix it already
Mine not fixed, need 16 and 60. Even harder as all my boosters disappeared overnight!!!!
I still have 15 licorice on android,cleared the board with 21 moves remaining but but got down to 1 move and only 14 licorice had dropped, used 6 hammers, 4 hand switches but still no extra licorice dropped, tried hitting the candies immediately below the droppers, no luck,tried the bottom row,still no luck, absolutely steam coming out of ears at the moment.
Tnx guys, just did the update, now 15 licoraces, so that was doable.
Luckuly had five extra moves ( very much needed :-D) and did one handswitch.....and.....MADE IT!
30 awful licoraces can never be done, so glad I looked here.

It's now 6 licorice and 60 blockers in 35 moves and not designated as hard. I passed first time with three stars.
Got it first try starting the second UFO, and the check booster, plenty of moves left. Tried to connect the CB and the stripped candy that both were on the conveyor with a 3 candy combo, but they were both hit on that first move. That started to clear the bottom, and cascades just keep coming. One CB formed, and I used it on a time bomb about to explode, and the resulting cascade finished the game for me.
