Candy Crush Saga Level 2240 tips and video

Hints and tips showing how to pass level 2240 Candy Crush Saga without boosters by Cookie
Level 2240 is classified as a hard level so you can expect to lose a few lives before you manage to pass it.
Don't worry too much about the bottom part of the board, the task is to score points, not clear blockers, so work on making special candies as much as possible, especially colourbombs as these will give you the best scores.
Avoid switching a colourbomb with a stripe as this won't give you many points, much better to switch it with a single candy, especially if there are bombs on the board the same colour as the candy.

It's been a very long time since I have been waiting for levels. Don't waste boosters on this one like I did. I used all my boosters and then got it with a lucky board. Got a wrapped with a striped together and that opened up the bottom and then I got some sprinkles given to me by the gods and then I just waited for the timer to run out.... happy days:) Onward crushers!

Anonymous said...

Agreed. No sense wasting boosters on this one. Ms Cookie's hints work IF you can get the bottom opened up enough. There in was the difficulty for me. It took many tries before the "Lucky board" came along. That's the only way I got through this pain in the arse. Did I mention that I hate timed levels?

The timed levels are AWFUL!!! The only good thing about them is that they are finished very quickly. They still have a way of getting you into a REALLY bad mood. I have been trying this level for several days and not even been able to open up the bottom part of the board.

Donny G said...

So, for the first time, I have caught up with Cookie and must await new levels! Unbelievable how much time I waste with this.

Kickan said...

Boring, frustrating, boring level.

Dawn said...

I cannot get enough of the bottom cleared to make any moves or collect any time.

Rick said...

This is the one of the most difficult timed level in Candy Crush for me. Your moves are limited to the upper half of the board. It's very hard to clear the dispensers of licorice and blockers at the middle for the +5 candies to drop. Even after hitting it with a stripe and a +5 candy drops, there is no way to get at it sort of hammering it. In addition, you have to deal with countdown bombs at the same time. The best way to clear the bottom part of the board for the +5 candies to drop is switching 2 color bombs together. That will surely clear all the licorice and blockers on the bottom half of the board. You have to have a lot of color bombs to do it because you cannot reset on a timed level. Also even if you start with one, you have to make another one to pair it. You might need several hand switches to do it. All this you have to do within 35 seconds. The second option I thought of is to use a UFO. After about 40 or so tries, I was getting nowhere so I bought a UFO with gold bars. I have to get 2 time extensions to complete the level. I spent about 60 gold bars in doing so. Anyway, I am glad to complete a entire episode again on the PC and don't have to wait till Wednesday for it to be available on mobile.

Got it first try with no boosters. Quite a surprise for me as I hate timed levels. I actually enjoyed playing this one because I must have had a lucky board. Was able to get to the bottom in about three moves with a striped wrapped combo which opens it up enough to get time candies and go back-and-forth as Cookie said.

Anonymous said...

While many are struggling to pass a hard, especially timed level, somebody will pass it on the first (second, third or so) try. That is what is called a "lucky board". How often can you get a lucky board? Someone mentioned about 1 in 30. Somebody posted a comment in level 1538, another hard timed level with 301 comments, that lucky boards might be a predetermined percentage of players per day/hour allowed [by Candy Crush] to complete a level. So if you have the time and patience to wait for the "lucky board" wait for it, otherwise do something about it.

Anonymous said...

Well, this should be fun - NOT.

Posting for luck...

Twice now I have had over 90,000 with time left on the bombs and the game stops cause it says bomb about to explode...frustrating!

Anonymous said...

Dreadful level - my first time to post this. Once you can make matches in the lower part of the board it is simply a matter of keeping enough time available through extra time candies, whilst keeping the bombs under control. I focused on making vertical stripes to do this - and - after about 30 attempts, managed this.

Good luck from Manila

Anonymous said...

Not very hard level, on 9th try, got two CB without boosters, reached two stars within 10 steps. Must be lucky board. Good luck every one. PH

Anonymous said...

Tried several times again, and passed with two times with low scores. Had better luck working from two sides, center stripes had not worked out for me yet. PH

Anonymous said...

I was really dreading this last level but got through with less tries than the first timed level. Didn't like this episode at all. Hopefully, the next one will be more enjoyable. Til next Wednesday.

Well, this was weird. 2nd move and a sprinkle fell down. I matched that with a wrapped and it did some damage. Then another sprinke dropped and I matched that with a bomb. Got 87,000 pts. Got a few stripes and went to 98,000+
I never even had to get an extra time candy.

Anonymous said...

Have a lot of Candy crushers quit already? Level 1575 has 353 comments and level 1538 has 302. I found levels 2229 and 2240 to be about as hard but have less than 20 comments each, or I am wrong about their difficulty.

Bill. said...

Didn't like the timed levels, this one had a lucky chocolate bomb form then let iit count down. See you next Wednesday.

Anonymous said...

I find that the best board on timed levels are almost always the first one you try. So I watch Cookie example until I understand the game. It does help.

Anonymous said...

Agree. But I am always just very small amount shy of passing for the first try of timed levels. Also I had many games one move short of passing. Temptation has not got me yet though, never paid a penny. PH

Anonymous said...

I also pay close attention when I got a life after watching 3rd party AD video because the board is usually better for me. I passed quite several hard timed levels this way. PH

Anonymous said...

I watched the video twice. Ms Cookie says you need 90,000 points but the video starts out and it clearly shows 140,000 as the target. She only got 97,760 but it said she passed. What the hey?

Anonymous said...

That is normal, if you replay any passed level, the target is your highest score, not minimum required score. You pass if you beat the minimum but fail to beat your own record. PH

Anonymous said...

I just watched her video and it clearly shows 90,000 points required at the start.

Is anyone playing the Striped Contest? I'm just curious of the prizes. Only the top 3 players will receive a prize. I played level 1955 for about an hour and collected about 500 stripes. An hour later, this character Kuljeet zoomed to the no. 1 spot with 1,590 stripes. I'm wondering how one can collect that many stripes in that short time. I think the contest is rigged. I'll just spend my hour collecting sugar drops and earn about 10 boosters in the process.

CHunger said...

The Great Reward for winning First Place in the Striped Contest is...merely a standard set of one each of the boosters. Totally not worth it.

To rack up huge numbers of stripes, all you have to do is repeatedly play level 1476 over and over...totally asinine and tedious thing to do.

It is not rigged, just a rip-off.

Anonymous said...

That is because new level stripe number is multiplied by 10. It is not that hard to collect 159 new stripes in short time. I used to always win the first spot before I completed all levels. Now that I finished all levels, it is tough to win stripe contest. On the other hand, I found that diamond challenge is not that hard, I can almost always pass the first 3 levels without booster, then 1 booster for level 4, some boosters for final level 5. The reward is larger than what consumed, so it is OK to let other people win stripe contest. PH

Anonymous said...

Thanks CHunger for clarification on the Striped Contest. I don't know if you entered that contest yourself, but I agree it is really not worth it. For those who are thinking of joining that contest, I just want to add that for getting more stripes, playing level 1955 is better than level 1476. Level 1955 is a timed level and you can stop anytime or play continuously as long as you have attained the required points. Either way, the stripes you have created will count. In level 1476, you have to complete the level in order for the stripes to count. When I played 1476, sometimes I did not get the 100 wraps to complete the level and the stripes did not count.

Tried to tap the wrench at the end of level 2240. To my surprise, it was not usual "Soon there will be more space to explore", instead it popped out a 3x3 gift array, I selected the center one which was hammer or switch(forgot what I received). Then it went back to usual behavior. You might try it while waiting for new levels till next Wednesday. By the way, the diamond challenge award is one set of every booster plus one extra hammer and one extra bomb. PH

Anonymous said...

Thanks also PH for explaining that stripes created on new levels (which are released on Wednesdays) are worth 10 times. That explains why someone can get thousands right away. I also played the one-life step challenges while waiting for the new episodes to be released but only the 3-level ones. Once you complete the 3-level one, King will increase the step to 5 or 6 levels which makes is much more difficult. I also used boosters but only on the final level of the step in which case the I can get back the booster plus the other boosters.

Anonymous said...

I don't know how you got that 3x3 gift array by tapping the wrench at the end of level 2240. I tried it on my iPad and my Android table but only got only the "To be continued" screen.

Anonymous said...

If any of you wants to get a free lollipop very easily, play Dexter's Delight. Collect just 10 stripes on any level and you get the free lollipop. (I played level 1955).

Anonymous said...

Did not know what I did. I finished level 2240 in about 3 hours before Wednesday noon. If I remembered correctly, I tapped the wrench in Wednesday afternoon.(Definitely not right after finish but not very long after finish). The pop out was something like "You finished level 2240, here is ...", then 9 gifts in bags which I never saw before, it disappeared after I made selection. PH

Need a lucky board CC

Anonymous said...

I have several questions, hope fellow crushers can give me answers:
Regarding stripe competition
1. Which color stripes count? Looks only red, green, yellow count for me
2. When stripe is combined with color bomb, do all turned into stripes count? Looks like only count as 1
3. At the end of game, remain steps turned into stripes, do these count?
4. Do stripes in one life challenge and other challenges count?

Also I have hard time to tell how many times spawner/mixer has been hit from its appearance, is there a way to tell from its damage. when I decided to use hammer to knock it out, it often surprised me that I was short of hammer. PH

Mad Man said...

I too am very curious about how to determine spawner damage visually.

Mad Man said...

Got it on my 2nd try, nothing in particular to note aside from that I only got a couple +5 candies and mostly seemed to skate by (barely) based on matching bombs really quickly.

And so... I made it to the end for the very first time!!!

This is the end of an 11.5 month journey/obsession, and I'm actually not quite sure what to do with myself next. I'm tempted to go back and fill in missing stars now, which I never cared about before at all. What I *should* do is spend more time with my family.

A couple thoughts on this (for me) auspicious occasion...

1) This is a great blog and has been a big part of helping me through so many levels, both Ms. Cookie's advice and tips from all of you who post. Even the bellyachers are entertaining some of the time.

2) There is a lot of griping about King, but truthfully I'm impressed that they are able to come up with new levels week in and week out that are both interesting and, mostly, reasonable to complete. After 2240 levels already done, this is no small feat, so I tip my hat to them.

3) I've never paid a dime, although I've been mightily tempted on a few occasions when I was *really* close on extremely hard levels but didn't have the gold to purchase extra time/moves. No disrespect to those who *have* paid though. Without you the economics of the game simply wouldn't work. You have my respect.

I've waited a long time to say this...

"See you next Wednesday!"

Anonymous said...

I don't like this level, too hard CC, need a very lucky board

Anonymous said...

Just can't catch a break on this level. I've lost count of how many times I've tried it. I've only broken through to the lower level twice. I'm at the point where I dread even trying. Oh lucky board, wherefore art thou?? ((sigh))

Unknown said...

Passed this level by using a sprinkle and using it after getting some bombs with matching colors. Another sprinkle fell down and used it on more bombs that matched color. Never broke through the bottom level. Passed on 2nd attempt and was surprised because I heard this one was hard.

Anonymous said...

3rd place: 2 boosters + 2 hours
2nd place: 4 boosters + 4 hours
1st place: 6 boosters + 6 hours
The unlimited life hours maybe valuable to those have not finished all levels yet.

Anonymous said...

After trying for a day, I got a lucky board and made my points without breaking into the bottom section. Thanks for the idea of clicking on the wrench at the end to get a prize!

Unityman said...

Finally passed this awful level. Has to be near the top of my most hated level list.

On a different note, has anyone experienced any unexplained reductions in their boosters?. I don't usually keep track that closely, but my chocolate sprinkle and wrapped/stripped boosters have been going down without me using them. After I first noticed it, I deliberately did not use any to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Although, after level 2240, that's a distinct possibility ...

Unityman said...

Follow up - just played 2240 again to see what would happen. No boosters "checked", but a chocolate sprinkle showed up on the board, and was deducted from my inventory. Beware!

Anonymous said...

Think this game is doable , my gripe is if I leave the game for more than an hour and restart it again a colour bomb booster appears on the screen , if I reset it I'm a bomb down , I've lost six today , not much point playing for them just to lose them like this , is anyone else having this problem.

Anonymous said...

Same happened to me

Anonymous said...

Happening nealy every time i play now, on android and pc.very annoying as every time the game updates i lose all my boosters.

Jimmy said...

In uk King is running magic helmet booster right now. You get striped, wrapped & sprinkle to start plus 3 extra moves (don't count on timed levels) Pass 7 levels without losing a life to get it. Just play first 7 levels or level 1 7 times. Had this level won till it crashed with few seconds left. I'll have it passed soon enough

Lou said...

The toughest one yet. Hardly ever get to bottom board and same as Unityman and others I am losing boosters despite not having checked them. Have reported this and have a ticket number but not holding my breath for an answer! Lucky board needed please!

Anonymous said...

I was OK to play old levels, but today, not only my color bomb disappears, but also my hand switch reduces by itself. Guess I am going to stop playing any levels before next Wednesday. Hope CC stops stealing our boosters back. This is even worse than one-time wipe out, at least that does not scare you for every game play.

Anonymous said...

I can't get close. My best scores are 39k 40k and 49k but most are 20 something. I'm struggling to get into the bottom half of the board.

Anonymous said...

Just when I was thinking I'd never beat this level two stripe/wrap candies over the centre took my score to over 100k. I must have got lucky. In the previous game I managed to clear most of the lower half but only scored 35k. Glad this level is over.

What a Joke!

Unknown said...

About the stripe contest: I've won first place several times and in addition to 6 free boosters you also get 6 free hours of play> don't click on it until you have the time, it will still be there.

I used to play 1476 but 1955 is much better, I get between 300-600 stripes per game! The rule is only stripes you make count so matching a sprinkle with a stripe only counts as one and the same goes for stripes for left over moves after the game ends, they don't count BUT... the saving grace here is that stripes made in cascades DO count and that is why level 1955 is the way to go... endless cascades. When I come in first my score is usually 3000 and up.

Anonymous said...

Posting for luck. Very hard to get through the blockers. Not enough time on the clock.

Anonymous said...

Can't get to the bottom and access the extra time. Posting for luck!

Anonymous said...

This level has no skill or strategy involved. Luckily rounds last only seconds. You rarely can even get to the bottom, or get any extra time, so it's all over in a few seconds. Then we go play some other game. What value is this to King? Please send my lucky board soon.

Anonymous said...

Another shit time level. no game, just wating for luck. I quitt...............bye King

Donavan said...

I got my lucky board on my 4th try. I created and set off a few vertical stripes but was not able to open up the bottom of the board. Luckily I got a chocolate bomb and was able to switch it with a color with 2 or 3 bombs. A few more moves and I had the points I needed without getting any extra time candy.

WTF ? ! ?

slychard said...

Honestly, what's wrong with these F'n programmers, this is pure F'n torture.

slychard said...

Hey boss here's my latest timed level.
Why this is near impossible.
Should I add some Seconds?
NO, drop it by 12 seconds, and ADD some F'n dropping swirls.

Anonymous said...

Actually this was not as bad as I was expecting based on what I had been reading from other players. I tried starting with a candy ball in hopes of being able to mate it with a bomb, but never got the chance, having to use it earlier in the game. But it was still putting me over 60,000 points, so I figured I was close, just needing a little luck. But I stopped starting with boosters. I played until I was able to create a candy ball and then let it ride. This gave me the points I needed. Fortunately I was on two hours of unlimited lives, so I got to keep playing games. Took me maybe 45 minutes, rather than the days I had to go through for the other timed levels in this episode. Onward!

Anonymous said...

Most times not even getting 9,000 never mind 90,000.. Even starting with chocolate ball still not getting more than 20,000. Posting for the lucky game coz I sure need it....

ANOTHER TIMED LEVEL! This is getting ridiculous. Spent 3 weeks on the last one which was only 5 levels ago. Think it's time to hire some new programmers. It gets tiring to wait for a mere lucky board. Bring back the fun.

Read the comments so am waiting for a lucky board. 5 games goes by very quickly in this level.

First try honestly. Had a Morty's helmet, shot one stripe down to get some bombs, plus a few extra moves, then used the helmet on the highest number of bomb colors. 102,000 points and stopped play there.

I am finding this level much harder than the past few timed levels. Hopefully after using a sprinkle and posting here for luck, I'll get it done.

Lynne said...

After playing quite a few times and reading the comments here, I was having no luck. Fortunately I was able to use Morts helmets on the board I passed. I did not use the color bomb right away. I tried to keep hacking away at the bottom of the board and getting as many extra time candies as I could while trying to match bombs at the top when I could. This time my focus was getting extra time every chance I could while keeping a strict on on the bombs. I then got tons of points and just let the time run out. This strategy worked for me

c/candycrush here
I'm not through or anywhere near it. Usually score in the 30,000+ mark only.

Have to give a cynical laugh at the advice to work in the bottom to score some of the 5 sec candy. If I could I would! I rarely make any inroads at all into the bottom, that's my problem.

Re lucky boards. I'm wondering if King has a computer program that keeps tabs on how often you try a level & eventually sends a few 'luckier' boards to keep you moving on.

As for the daily spin-have never struck the jackpot in any of my 4 accounts in 4 years. Has to be rigged so the odds are very long.

Anonymous said...

c/candycrush here:

Took 2-3 days.
No boosters.
I tried working the sides to try to open up the bottom that way, tried the top in the hope of combos.
Basically, you just have to wait for the right board. I got a stripe/wrap centre top which opened the bottom enough to make matches.

You just have to wait for a board that gives you that chance to work at the bottom but I found boosters didn't help me. They may other people though. Good luck.

Anonymous said...

No real strategy, although a sprinkle to start isn't bad. You need two doses of pure luck. One dose to be lucky enough to clear out some of the bottom, and the second dose to be lucky enough that you can match things once you do. Extra frustrating level because it always looks like you are "close" to getting somewhere with it all, but you aren't...

Lives flying past in the blink of an eye. Barely able to open bottom of board. Started with Chocolate Sprinkle but that didn't help.

Am I the only one who sees that Candy's example has nothing to do with the reality of level 2240? Her example ISN'T timed. The goal is to reach 140,000 points. My 2240 IS timed and you need to reach 90,000. This "example" of how to pass is completely useless.
