Hints and tips showing how to pass level 3940 Candy Crush Saga without boosters by Cookie
Level 3940 Candy Crush Saga is classified as a hard level so you can expect to lose a few lives before you manage to pass it.
All you have to do is clear the jelly! Easier said than done. The main thing to focus on is clearing the cakes from the 4 corners of the board and to do this you need fish from the float in the middle of the board.
Forget about clearing jelly, there is no need to clear it, the cakes will clear all the jelly when they are cleared apart from the last bit from under the final cake. Concentrate instead on making stripe/wrap combos or double colourbomb combos.
The stripe/wrap combos must hit the float so make them as close to it as you can, this will give more fish. If you can make a double colourbomb combo it will clear huge chunks of the cakes as well as giving some fish. The fish always target the cakes on level 3940 so the more you can h=get the better chance you have of clearing the level.
In the video below the player seems to get loads of fish from one hit and you may not get as many as the level has been changed slightly since the video was made. I get a lot less fish when I hit the float but it is still possible to complete the level, especially if you have some boosters to play with.
The jelly fish booster may help but the fish from the booster will not always target the cakes so probably not worth using it.

This is a bad joke. I had two CB side by side and got 3 fishes for this combo. On this way its not possible to win.

I have the space dash plus an extra sprinkle so on the third try I added a fish and started with a double CB. The cascade cleared all the cakes and then I was able to get a CB color co,bo and a stripe/fish combo which got the last jellies in a cake. Very lucky to still have space dash!

I had hoped to make it to 4000. This level makes me so angry at cc that may just leave early. CB CB did nothing to help me!

I have to describe this - my 2 CBs produced a few fish?!?! I hit the float with a striped + wrapped and a THING that looked like a SNAKE came out disappearing on the side and back came more than 30 fish?!?!?! cleared everything except last 4 jellies. What’s going on CC?

Have tried starting with CB combo and also CB wrap combo. Have never cleared more than two cakes. Seems impossible!

Cookie said fishs always targets the cakes in this level, but it is not true. When a cake is clear, the fishs targets the jelly under it either the cake.

Finally a relaxing level after the horror of many previous ones.
Start with colorbomb combo and the rest is easy fun.

I was just talking to my husband that I'm thinking about this, too. No fun anymore, no level easy or just tricky, no move without high concentration possible, failing even with full booster bot and levels that are made more difficult (up to impossible) shortly after release. 3 years CC brought so much fun in my life, but all good things come to an end one day. Still too addicted for the last step, but every day I lose a bit addiction due to the lack of fun and fairness. And yes, I paid from time to time. So King, you'll lose paying customers if you want to squeeze us too much.
Cb+CB hits exactly the half of all cakes. By extreme luck had 2 other CB's some moves later and was using a switch hand to be able to combine them. So all cakes were gone then and the rest not so much of a problem... But by the way, still 2 jellies on the normal field were to hit, even after 4 exploding cakes... Feel not satisfied, because this was only possible with playing 606 (or 3711) seven times for the booster bot. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth somehow. Still on my fight against the addiction ...

Don't waste moves trying to clear corner jellies after a cake is destroyed. The next cake you clear will remove that jelly. Focus only on clearing cakes until the last few jellies.
Game is after getting incredibly boring, while I still flick it’s without much interest... waiting this one out

My Build A Bot does not build on prior levels anymore! Is this happening to anyone else? I always used to go back to 606 or 3711 to load up with boosters and now when I run those levels, nothing happens. TRULY impossible to pass these levels without that!

Can’t win without help from a lucky board!
Again stuck for days so boring. Swipe the stress away your joking. boring, boring, boring.
So tedious. Too difficult to make combos and the stupid candy fences ruin everything . The fish are as useless as ever. BORED!!
As also mentioned by the person who posted above, if I ever miraculously get all 4 cakes, any possibility of making combos magically disappears - so I run out of moves . King is so desperate for us to buy more lollipops for those last 4/5 jellies , or to buy extra moves. Such a rip off !!!
Well guess what , it ain’t happening since you’re making the levels so hard that any boosters we buy will last 1/2 levels max, so it’s a waste of money .

Wonder when king let me pass. I used boosters...but that doesnt seem to help. And because i can't pass this level i can't gain boosters...there are players that don't buy them you know.....
I know there need to be more fun levels to keep you motivated and more rewards when you finish a hard level

Video has 25 moves to clear 58 jellie, my board has 34 moves I thought great easy, not there are 134 jellies, impossible definitely need a lot more moves. Floats when hit only give off one fish. This is so hard!
