Hints and tips showing how to pass level 3961 Candy Crush Saga without boosters by Cookie
Level 3961 is an order level, you have to collect 40 licorice whorls to complete the level.
The most important thing you need to think about from the first move is collecting the keys. The keys will release the lucky candies onto the board so that you will be able to change and collect them more easily. Once the lucky candies are released you can make moves in the middle part of the board to get them dropping onto the board.
Once you have the lucky candies and licorice on the board you need to try to create cascades, not easy when the licorice stops them, but it's the only way to clear the level. Matches of three just won't do the job.
The best candies are colourbombs and wraps and if you can switch the two together better still.
Originally level 3961 only had 4 colours so it was quite a lot easier but now with 5 colours it is significantly harder and I have used a colourbomb booster to make the video below. It is possible without boosters but you will need quite a bit of luck and more time than I had.

I started this triple episode with 60 each hammers/switches... and as you planned all along burned through them all, and I’m not even finished with your torture. Rest assured I WILL NOT be purchasing ANY boosters, never have & never will. So... you’ve gained nothing but contempt from long loyal players. Like I said, hope you’re happy

I don't think King cares one bit if people who never paid a cent leave. I mean, it's not like King loses any revenue if they leave. What King should worry about is alienating people who do pay for boosters and lives. If King gets too greedy it would be like killing the golden goose if those folks leave.
I’m anon 0814. King should care about ALL players. When I leave this game (which is more than likely very soon) I won’t be playing any of their other games either, they will have lost me for good. King got greedy a long, long time ago. They would actually gain by producing games that are fun & challenging, not impossible & frustrating. Seriously, how many times do they think I’m going to play 3962 with no boosters to beat it (Ms. Cookie can’t) I’m finished loading the frog 606, just to lose boosters over & over again. As we use to say, NERF IT, it’s impossible as is

Well said, Anon. King could not have done a better job of cynically alienating its supporters: nobody is up at these levels unless they are long-standing players of considerable skill. I just wish some less advanced players would like at these posts and realise they are just wasting their lives as well as their money.

King should care if those of us who never paid leave because our talk about playing gets others to try who do pay. I also will not try another King game so once swaps are gone, good bye. I already burned through about 800 hammers in the last 4 weeks.
To the point about King selling boosters, etc...Coincidentally a few levels ago "conveniently" an icon appeared in the lower left of the screen below the booster tally. It is a bag of boosters that "good news" I can purchase! It nicely has appeared on every level since.
Awful level. Double CB to start. Hammer the keys, used a swap to bring color bomb and wrap together. And I’ve passed.
People really... why do you think King cares if those who never pay anything quit? You aren’t going to pay on any of the other King games either, so that argument is baloney. And King doesn’t need you to advertise to more freeloading friends. Everybody already knows about Candy Crush.
I have paid for extra moves quiet often as a way to win. Since you chose to make the last bunch of games so hard and no fun, I will no longer pay anything. You may be generating revenue in the short term but will no longer get a dime from me unless you make the games realistic. Your call
Here's how I passed, was able to start with CB/wrap, that took out all 3 keys on the first move, then just tried to play from bottom

Getting back to the game... I only had 2 keys. Used hammer on the first and had a CB color match for the second. The check mark booster was a big help!! As for King and these ridiculous levels... My first priority every day is to get sugar cube boosters. 2x a day. Then I play 606 to get the space dash. King provides a lot of free boosters, you just can’t breeze thru the levels as fast as you’d like. Happy Thanksgiving!

Haven't done this in a while and I know it irritates some players but I'm posting for luck. I've been on this level almost two weeks. Never took this long to do a board and from what I read there are worst levels to come.
I noticed that Cookie had three red keys so they all went away at once. I always get different color keys which are hard to get right away. I will keep trying for that board.
This is getting ridiculous now, every level is now impossible without boosters and just to rub your nose in it, they don't even call the level hard or super hard. Even this website has admitted they can't do them without boosters rather show some fake videos which i proved were fake GRRRRRRRRRRRR

finished on 3rd attempt with just check mark booster. made a colour bomb booster early on to clear 1st key then stripe/wrap combos for the 2 other keys. just keep hitting liquorice in middle column .....

After 3 years I have no more fun
I’ve been playing this level for a couple days. 3 keys, all different colors. Just now I went in to play the level and there was only one purple key. I hit purple with a color bomb. The board opened up. I collected the black whorls with 13 moves left over. I started the level with all the select boosters and all the Christmas stockings. I didn’t need any of it with just the one key to unlock.

Like all levels these days, this one is very simple.
The only skill you need is patience. The higher you go, the more patience you need.
I used to be one of the front runners, but never paid anything. I played older levels to get boosters.
It got clear that King put a stop to that by levels like this. You can only get one key to start with, so no matter how many space dashes you have or whatever, you basically have nothing. To pass, you will need hammers, very easy and simple.
So, recently, being stubborn like I am, I stopped collecting boosters and I refuse to use any that is not gifted on the board. I have hundreds stocked up now. Still, after a while, I get that lucky board and move along.
As long as players keep buying their way through, King will keep producing these boards.
You require no skill to pass any level. It’s a simple time passing app. Not a game, in a game, your skill plays a part, this is more like a lottery.

Used a color bomb on a wrapped to start. Hammered all the keys and it was easy after that.

King, I can't understand why you are trying alienate your most loyal fans. You have taken all the thrill of the game by giving us unachievable targets. Sorry to say I have to call it quits as this while episode sucks. I have no hope of finishing it. No extra moves coming my way. It's plain frustrating!
I can’t even get the keys 3/4 of the time. And if I go, there aren’t enough moves left to complete the level.
