Hints and tips showing how to pass level 3980 Candy Crush Saga without boosters by Cookie
Level 3980 is a jelly level that has been made impossible by the addition of locked licorice and blockers at the bottom of the board and the reduction of moves to only 15.
You really need either a double colourbomb combo to get started or a colourbomb/wrap combo and even then it may not be enough to get started on clearing the blockers at the bottom of the board.
There are only three colours so in theory it should be possible to make combos, but the candy canes and licorice make this extremely hard.
Wrapped candies are always best for clearing these difficult shaped boards but you will need to look very carefully to make sure you don't miss any chances to make any combos you can.
The video below is made with 15 moves and locked licorice but has no blockers at the bottom so please don't fill up the comments below with complaints as there is nothing I can do to change the level.

Incredible 7 days & at least a hundred boosters to complete these 3 episodes! Seriously King, have you lost your mind?? Clearly it’s ME who has lost mine to keep subjecting myself to this insanity. Lots of folks calling it quits @ 4000... add me to the list
I will definitely be calling it quits at 4000 as well, the game isn’t fun any more, it is more about having to use boosters and pure luck, very little strategy required. End the insanity......
As one who has lost the space dash and the abiity to restart and line up moves I can only say this board played itself because I really wasn't paying attention. Ten moves left. Went back and looked at my board there was no locked licorice, 20 moves and although I did use the boosters available, did not have to do anything to finish easily.Overall these three units were the worst ever so really happy to end on a good note.
since no fun, why not end the agony now and get on with life?

By today, the awful layers on licorice were gone. Start with resetting to CB/wrap. I had 10 moves left.
Tried with CB/wrap combo a number of times but haven't got through. Need a lucky board posting for luck
just go to facebook's candy crush 3980 and clear them. the level seems to be slightly different and easier in fb's candy crush than mobile app's one. I cleared it in 2 attempt with no booster.
How do we go about to fb candy crush. I have never played from there

I’m done ,. 18 moves .. locked liquorice with double jelly underneath.. absolute joke ! Well over a week to get through a few levels .. no fun anymore .. think king or whoever designs these games now have clearly ran out of ideas or lost the absolute plot !! People getting past these levels now must be spending money or they’re lying .. no one has that many boosters ? I’ve got through all mine & not spending so pick the bones out of that !
I am so tired of king making these ridiculous levels that are impossible! Lowering moves to stupid amount!

This level absolutely infuriates me. Obviously some guy who does not know his father designed this level at King, should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for inflicting this diabolical level on those of us that have stuck with them & made it this far
I have now made it to 4K but in order to do so I spent far too much time on cc. I played Friday and most of Saturday almost non-stop. As a result I woke up early Sunday morning with a dry mouth and almost not breathing. This has not happened for months or even years. I know I got too wrapped up with cc to keep up and decided to take a break from it. Soda and Jelly are easier and far more relaxing and I have no issues with them.

Tried countless times, over 2 days with full build-a-bot and 2 hrs of free play, finally got it, had to use 1 hand switch, happily moving on!

Well, I am just going to have to get used to slipping further and further behind. It is costing me too many boosters to keep up with this blasted game these days. The only thing I have observed is that occasionally I have an easier time passing levels on my cell phone than my computer.
I come to this website, religiously (thank you) to make sure my approach is correct. Once I am persuaded I am taking the right approach, I just resign myself to waiting for a lucky board.
I treat the whole darn game like Lumosity at this point. It is a mindless activity I can focus on while I am doing things that require my concentration. (I'm too ADD to focus on just one thing at a time.)
I do feel betrayed by the makers of this game. It's like they are playing us all for suckers.

You know why it is so hard? The makers want you to pay for extra moves and candy! No surprises really they are there to make money.
Done 1st time & with 17 moves left started with full spaceship & 2cb together really glad to finish this episode
Even when it updates by itself i never lost boosters.. the only time i lost boostees is when i uninstalled game and uf u do uninstall you can pick up right where u left off when you reinstall and sign in with fbook
I might be lucky but.. here's my solution.
I've started with full booster bot and 2xCB match together.
Then it really depends on your luck but 2xCB help a lot in the beginning. I was able to complete with the last move and a lollipop hammer however this is almost nothing to do with the strategy or skills - pure luck and I hate it.

I´ve been playing for years and never paid a cent and you can get many boosters for free that help, bur it´s so boring to repeat levels over and over again to get booosters to get further...

Had to reset the board about 30 times in order to get two color bombs together. This strategy worked.

I don't have space dash anymore, the piggy bank is full at 30 now, instead of 60, the prices have gone up on all boosters, if you choose to buy any... which I totally refuse to do now... no way! What gives, King... are you not making enough money the way it is? I'm smelling some greed here... Some of these levels are impossible without boosters... and without the space dash... that it seems like everyone else still has, except me...... somethings gotta give... or I guess I can keep begging for a lucky board...

Think I have to call it quits here. The licorice have changed into blockers on the bottom and towards the side AND they’re tied up. And making combos is incredibly difficult and practically impossible with the number of moves we have been given.

15 levels in 55 minutes according to the times of your postings? So every level first try and within 3 minutes including opening the board, have a look, playing, collecting stars etc... Hmmm... Haes to believe.

Thanks for your honesty. I understand you so much, I was also quite addicted (and pressured myself too much to keep up at the highest levels). After the space dash was gone every time you lose, I finally lost this lacerating ambition as going back to old levels every ridiculous level several times was too much a waste of time - and feel much better now. Play 5 times, if lost, then play after some hours again (and not use the watch=trick for 5 more loves). If you play a level often without boosters, you know much better how it really works and if you only then go back sometimes for some boosters (often half dash is enough), you often pass it immediately. And if you pass it on your own is a great feeling. So my spirit is much better now. And yes, I do play soda too, but there are also ridiculous levels at a certain point (I'm around level 1300)...
The level might have changed? Yesterday I played several times with not the slightest chance. This morning first try (without any booster) with even 2 moves left. The cascades did mainly everything for me... Well, I tried first to get rid of the blockers left and righ with stripes and one time occured even a double wrap. Then I worked in the bottom and this helped jellies on the left and right side, too, due to cascades. Also the bottom was really no problem. Finally 3 last jellies in the left side within 6 moves was doable. Weird when I read the comments here, this was either the elusive lucky board or an update over night changed the level? Had the feeling the liquorice was less aggressive compared to yesterday
Even starting with double Colour Bomb combo is not enough for this level. It takes a miraculous lucky board to clear. King has obviously lost all they have to stay in the industry.

Video has 20 moves and waa declared as hard, now we have 15 moves and it's not declared hard. Played without boosters and missed it only by 2 or 3 moves several times. The spawner is not of interest, it spawns few liquorice and often gets self destroyed by cascades. The top left and bottom right parts of the cake are mainly the problem
Once I reach 4000 I’m done.... this game has become far to ridiculous. It’s no longer fun it’s a recipe for frustration.
This is a very stupid level if CC keeps it this way they can play by themselves I will be done! It is stupid and impossible to do.

Tried this level several times, had full stocking but to no avail, then had stocking boosters taken away from me, I guess this has happened to others too, was about to give up when completed it it without any boosters to start, just used a gammer on last jelly. Is the stocking/space dash likely to come back?? If not I'm done because these levels are generally not possible without boosters!
I don't have the space dash, stocking, etc and I lost many lives before reluctantly trying with all three boosters. I've had to use them on impossible levels and have very few left. I managed it on the 4th attempt using a fish/wrap, a fish/stripe and a CB/wrap.
Been playing this level not even close and that's winning a hour of color bombs.
At 4000 I'm out too.

This has got to be one of the most boring levels. I have tried using color bomb/wrap etc and nothing. Could take this now and leave it before I drop down with boredom... yawnnnnn zzzzzzzzz
Well I have tried and tried. Two days now and I have been playing all day as I have the flu. I have no dspace dash or anything...used an hour of free color ball...used other boosters I had...the closet I can get is 11 jellies left. Posting for a lucky board as I am getting bored

After reading Cookie's comments I was expecting the worst but I actually passed it quite easily using a colour bomb and a stripe/wrap combo, waiting until the cb was with the wrap.
It's incredible how much moaning there is here. All these levels are doable, I've never had space dash and I am still here.
It's hard to find any helpful comments in amongst the complaints, so I hope my hint helps someone.

It took me a while, but i finally got it using no boosters, just regular play. SO it can be done. People take this way too seriously...it's a game folks! Every level is eventually doable, it just may take time. If you are in a big hurry, you can pay your way through it...no judgement. I have done that sometimes, depending on my mood. I come to this blog for tips....I don't care if you hate King....I don't care if you have never paid a cent....and I don't care if you leave the game. And I am guessing no one else cares either! But for those who post relevant, positive comments....thanks!
Stuck for days now, I could not make it even when I use all the boosters. Had twice 2 hours free colorboms. Completely useless.
Only once in all those days I was able to clear the bottom!!!
That says enough I think , Impossible without a lucky board.
Have to wait again till CC let me pass this level............ and in the meantime I can not open any doors for extra free boosters. Great!!!!
Those doors will be gone again by the time I pass this level. I guess that will be in 2025.
Boring boring boring.
With most of their recent levels, they obviously suck and are near impossible, but you at least know that you just need a lucky board/boosters/space dash/etc. And you just need to wait it out. They're not IMPOSSIBLE. HOWEVER, I've started with full boosters, space dash, AND had a lucky board where stripes, wraps, and color bombs were seemingly falling from the sky, and I STILL wasn't close. I don't see any way of doing this at this point Time to stop and hope they revamp this level.

Candy Crush Saga level 3980 is the height of sanity for anyone still in the game. Playing CCS as a game to help me deal with a terrible loss. Unfortunately, I picked the wrong game This no longer fun. Please send me LUCK and more LUCK which is required by ALL players to complete this level. Send LUCK to all players. The tutorial even with 15 moves seems easy compared to the true game. What is the reason for frustrating players?

This nearly impossible level is BS!! No skill involved it's all luck and I haven't had any in the 2 weeks I have been stuck on it! Time to get away from King games!
I used al my boosters and did take a good look at the shape of the board. Seccond try I passed this (horrible) level. The boosters I used I did won from space dash at pc or does it have another name? I don't care and wishing you good luck! Greet from Holland, Kees (KC).
Seems that I'll be in this level some time. I have played the previous levels without boosters. Hope that King will give me a lucky board.
I have been going back to level 1 to win spaceship but it is not available. It has been a few days now. Has anyone had this experience? Does King do a time out with winning the helmet full of goodies? If it’s not available anymore, I’ll be done also. This level is absolutely impossible without help.
