Hints and tips showing how to pass level 7040 Candy Crush Saga without boosters by Cookie
Tips and walkthrough video for this level. Even experts sometimes need help!
I will post videos for every level and write tips where I think they are needed but otherwise please feel free to give your tips in the comments.
Tips: Level 7040 is an ingredients level, you have to collect all the cherries to complete the level. The cherries drop down through the portal at the bottom right into the top left and from there down to the bottom where the exits are.
First you need to collect the keys to unlock the cherries, to do this you will need to either use a colourbomb combo, or clear the rainbow twists to release normal candies to switch them with. There is one rainbow twist in the middle of the board that can be cleared to take the rest with it. The locked licorice never unlocks so you won't be able to use combos easily.
Once the cherries are release you need to clear the sugar coats from them and get them down to the exits. Wrapped candies or stripes, if well placed, will do the job.

Finally got cherries over but no way to break them out of boxes! As I said impossible. What few boosters I have are almost gone. My days are numbered!
Tried so many times that I have a headache! Isn't this supposed to be fun? Frustrating level! PFL��
Why is this not labeled as super or nightmare hard?
Unless I’m missing something I cleared all the keys on the right side but there are still locked boxes. Aren’t there any keys to unlock them? If not there aren’t nearly enough moves unless you have a lot of boosters. I don’t. Posting for a lucky board. Good luck everyone.

Got this on the 2nd go, got lucky in the end with a wrap/stripe combo near bottom left, slowing down now to get the remaining "stickers", good luck to all on the 3rd episode...

The level is LESS difficult than I thought the at the first attempts. Do NOT try to get the keys "the normal/obvious way" (by opening the rainbow twist in the middle). You lose too many moves. You MUST get them by CB+Stripe or even better CB+wrap. This is not too difficult when the left side is open a bit and frees already some cherries from the sticky stuff on it. When you have collected all keys, only work on the left side. Then all cherries fall down there. You will need some wraps or stripes or combos to free the "still sticky" cherries and get them down. But if you understood this principle, the level is fun and van be solved by strategy, not only luck. Needed 3 attempts after I found out that its better to get the keys by CB-combo on the left side.

Awful level. Again, there are too few moves to complete it. Need friendlier boards to help remove the sugar coatings off the stupid cherries.
CB combo!! Well I’d never have thought of that!!! Give me strength. Since King has decided to annihilate the build-a-bot when you fail a game there is no chance to build up goodies. Plus it doesn’t give you 2 CBS any more. The likelihood of me ever getting through this level is fading. My time here may be done. On the plus side my Duolingo Italian course is getting much more time.

Used the suggestion of using color bombs to go after keys, worked great and used to hammer to remove covering on last cherry! Thanks for the tip!

I really must be missing the point ...I have cleared the rope releaseed the cherries on more than one occasion only to run out of move ...I have tried using colour bombs stripes etc ..eo now convinced king in control ?....

To answer a question above, you cannot unlock the boxes down the middle of the board. The keys unlock the cherries which are covered in multilayered marmalade. The marmalade was the hardest part for me. I played almost exclusively in the left side and all of the cherries were in the same column which was a big help. Good luck everyone.
