Hints and tips showing how to pass level 4003 Candy Crush Saga without boosters by Cookie
You have to score 450,000 to complete the level and you now only have 14 moves to do it.
In order to get the points needed in so few moves you will need to get bombs dropping from the dispensers at the bottom of the board, these are blocked by locked licorice and clearing the cake will unlock them.
Work on making stripes and stripe/wrap combos to fire into the cake and clear it as soon as possible. Once the locked licorice is unlocked you will get countdown bombs dropping through into the main part of the board. Clear these bombs with colourbombs for the best scores.
The moves have been reduced to only 14 which makes this a very hard level and at the time of writing and also the portals at the bottom are not working so it is impossible to make a new video. I will post a video that is the best I can find, the score needed is achieved in 14 moves but if the portals are not fixed this is going to be impossible.

When I first got to this level it had been changed to 14 moves to score 550000. Even with 17 moves & full booster bot boosters didn't get close. Only managed it when score was reduced to 450000 & more moves provided, even then had to use lollipop hammers to get rid of cake and switches to help create colour bombs. Portals don't work, get blocked by liquorice & only 2 bombs at a time. Come on King, it's a game, it's meant to be fun not a cryptic nightmare- we're not trying out for Mensa.

This is so dang irritating. I cleared all of the licorice above the cake and used a stripe/wrap combo and it did not phase the cake at all. What the heck!!!! Utterly ridiculous!!!!! Absolutely no more. I have done. I will go play hopscotch before I come back to this game again. I have more stress from this NON-FUN game than I do at work.

Not possible until the portals are fixed. Notice that the open portals at the top do not lineup with the bomb locations at the bottom. The intent was to drop the bombs into the play area and clear them to make the points. This is shown in every video but on the vids the portals line up. They no longer do and the bombs no longer drop. Until fixed we will not pass this level UNLESS we simply use boosters to hit the bombs over and over and even then I don’t know that it will b enough points and I’m not wasting my boosters to find out.

You can pass this on sheer luck even with just 14 moves. After many tries, I score 560,000 without using any boosters. There are only 3 colors on the board and the cascades keep on creating color bombs, stripes, and wraps that keep exploding. The cake bomb was not even destroyed and the bombs did not come out but I was still able to get the points to pass this level.

Ok after bitching that this level was impassable—I passed! Through no skill on my part I was able to blow up one of the spawners and the cake—that did the trick—cascades took care of the rest. Blowing up the spawner was key I believe.

Ms. Cookie's advice worked for me. Started with full BOT, got CBs together, blasted it. Opened up the licorice, and went after the cake, but also using the CB to hit bombs...raked up a huge score
Surprisingly, CBs kept popping up all the time, got 15 of them.

This can be done if you have the space dash. I started with a double CB and two moves later was able to get a count down bomb dropping. Combos are easy to make to hit the count down bombs and color bombs also are easy to make. Concentrate on hitting the color of the two count down bombs. They don't have to drop through the portals. I did not clear the cake and only late in the game cleared one spawner. Finished first try with 605,000 points.
I agree. Bean stalk gave me wheel also. Got a lucky board and scored more than 1200000
There must be something wrong with the portals because none of the bombs come to the playing section. I only get the two at the bottom no matter how many times I’ve played. Impossible to get the score without bombs.
I was able to pass it with 2 colorbombs paired on my first moves and lots of cascades. Obviously a lucky board!

Just got it! Lucky to have full build a bot and reset ability. Started with CB CB combo. Portals didn't line up but in the end I spun and got 15 extra moves which helped but also hurt since bombs have countdown of 6. Scored twice the points needed, happily moving on!
WHY DON'T YOU HELP US, AFTER STOCK OVER A WEEK???
Concentrate on hitting the count down bombs by matching the sprinkle with their colors or making other combos to hit them. You do not need to have them drop through the portals. See my post above 29 November at 18;44
wow there is a problem with this level and I think King owes be a few boosters. No bombs at all came down into the portals. I played on my computer , my android and an app and all 3 had the same problem. Please fix it.

Yep...I think it's time to stop now too. This level is IMPOSSIBLE as is and completely unfair. I even used lollipop hammers and that didn't help. Gonna (try) to stop playing at least from this level on unless I find that they change things to be better and like before when we all had the space dash or Mort's Helmet practically every day, and Rami, etc. and boards that actually were passable with or without boosters!!

Ok, with a lot of luck (although it didn't seem like it at first), I started with full SD plus extra CB & strip/wrap combo, swapped two CB's together, and got the cake to clear shortly after but then ran out of moves. Spun the wheel and got an extra 15 moves then had a bomb explode 2 moves later (Doh!), as I was getting close to the first star I used gold bars to get 5 moves which not only reset the bombs, but it also added the 5 moves I bought to the 14 i still had left before the bomb exploded. This gave me enough time and moves to get 3 stars and a score of just over 970,000. This was also my first attempt at this level, and if it wasn't for reading everyone's comments here before I played it, I may well have not done the all the extras first time round, glad I did, thanks everyone.
I had no boosters, no SD, I just tried it to see if they fixed the game, nope The portals not there and only 1 bomb came on the board. I had only 14 moves and 550,000 target points. I got it. The board just blew up with tons of CB and I got the score. Shocker. I guess just keep giving it a try.

King getting more stupid ! Just goes to show that the people in your world you’re playing against are not real ! Just went back to level 1 to get some boosters & I was no 1 with 35000 .. now someone has got 94508334 .. yeah seriously!! On level 1 !!! The same person has popped up a few times now with radiculous scores !!

I’m glad I came here before I start the level. At least I know I don’t need to destroy cake to win. Posting for a luck too.
Started with no booster but made lots of special candies that I could mix with cb. But in the end I was still about 4000 points short. I grit my teeth and bought an extra moves. Less than $2. once in a while for game I love is ok, isn’t it? I can’t remember last time I bought an extra moves. So I declare I’m justified.
I must have had the lucky board, but you still have to know how to play it. You need to open the two squares on the very bottom to get to the bombs. Not many colors so I had a lot of CBs generated. Don’t match CB with a stripe or wrap, mix with a single color of one of the bombs. I had multiple CBs, and was able to preserve them by matching with a single color. Matching with a stripe/ wrap blows up the other CBs and does not give many points. Good luck!

Forget cake and licorice, work on colourbombs/wrapped and with a Lucky board you'll pass the level.
Passed in 9 moves with a colourbomb and a wrapped one.

This level stinks. I played it now for days and don’t get close even with destroying the cake. The booms don’t come down the portholes. Once the cake is destroyed it fills up with blockers and the spawns no matter how many times I hit them they didn’t blow up. King is taking all of the fun of playing this game. Please help and fix this game.
The bombs don't drop into the main board on my Android. So the maximum number of bombs i get at a time is only two, making this level impossible. Obviously the QC team of King is sleeping on the job.

This level is just a waste of time. Not enough moves for a 550000 score, and the lower portals don't work anymore. Usually, the bombs would go through the portals and move up with the candy but now, they just stay put so we only have two at a time.
I'm taking a break for now, and just waiting for the level to be fixed.
This is quite a dissapointment...to have played five years to reach level 4000, and have levels that are now always difficult is not motivating. at all. I really expected to have fun for a while...but nope...

Don’t give uo. You CAN DO THIS even without bombs dropping. Just keep hitting the two bombs with CBs. Any cascade could help by creating and triggering CBs. It will still be a lucky board, but I got 900,000 and 3 stars.

501760 without any boosters lady and gentlemen. Purely luck of course but I still felt so frustrated when I ran out of moves.
Delighted to say, you can win this level, with some luck, and don't have to clear either of the spawners or the cake. Just a lucky board.

Didn't pass until I followed the tip to match color bombs to bomb bombs, even one game when I must have gotten a dozen color bombs
This has been glitched for over a week. It’s absolutely ridiculous. I’m done
If we hit the licorice with Stripe/Wrap or Stripe another licorice falls into the space. The bombs are inside Locked Licorice so it takes lots of moves to get through the horizontal line of licorice and the locked ones at the bottom. This one seems impossible even if there were many more moves.

With portals not working it's very difficult to achieve the score. You need much luck in order to get it with the cascades. King, please fix it. Game should make fun. This level is ridiculous as in it's current status.

? A wrap does not hit anything and does not give you many points? I think you mean cb+Stripe which is in fact helpful ?? (just tried it with your advice for fun and it really does not lead to anywhere)
You need patience and definitively no boosters as it's a cascade-luck thing. Tried to do many combos to hit the cake an destroy one spawner ... and many, many CBs came through cascades... Had 40 times nothing, 41th time 670K
After I won, went back to try sth and suddenly its 850 K in 14 moves and or 530K 😳 unbelievable (and extremely difficult)
Still frustrated! Impossible to get 550000 even with additional moves. Help 😩🍀

Everybody, I suggest every single one of us completely stop trying this level until it has been fixed.
Who knows, it might promt King to wake up and fire fire developers :)
I started with two color balls. Then, before making any move, I used hammers to blast the licorice opening up the time bombs. It took 4 hammer in all. With my two color bombs already in place, I used them with the color of time bombs. More color balls kept appearing, and the rest is history.
It is still a horrible level and I'm glad I can move forward.

Started 2 cb, full bot. . Passed first time. Goodness only knows how.
Was Working to complete this damn chapter.... but this level is impossible don’t thinking I’ll be able to complete it..... think it’s time to bug out I’m done with this bs King keeps dishing out.... they have lost their minds I’m done being frustrated over a damn game....
It's a matter of a lucky board. Since King didn't activate the portals, I collected a whole booster Xmas sock playing 6 times an easy level in order to have a good start and 3 additional moves. So I had lots of cascades and colour bombs that I matched with the color of the bombs provided by the dispensers. Score 650000.

On the video, the bombs drop Into the main area. I have yet to have even 1 bomb drop. I only get the two at the bottom and their replacements when I hit them.. Even with getting multiple CB's, the highest score I could get was about 300,000. Nowhere near the 550,000 needed.
I'll give it a while and then only play when I'm waiting on hold. Enough. Should have quit at 4000.

Now just maybe I had a lucky board. I managed to do this on the third attempt. It was realatively easy to make chocolate bombs and switch these together which cleared the cake quite quickly. After that I made chocolate bombs and swiped them with a countdown bomb. As I say maybe I was lucky. Good luck and happy Xmas.
Passed 1st time with all boosters and won 5 moves on the wheel spin, so maybe this level is now fixed or i was very lucky.

Easy level . Disagree with the Cookie Monster . Forget about the cake . It doesn’t have to be cleared . Just make colour bombs and you will get the points needed .
You are absolutely right! No need to clear the cake or licorice or the evil spawners. I tried that way initially but it was not possible. Then I focused on creating color bombs and switch with one candy to get rid of one color. Then more color bombs will form. I didn't use any boosters and made enough points to pass, after playing several times. I actually found this level quite fun to play.
Yes, don't bother about clearing the cake. Just concentrate on making chocolate bombs and switch them with countdown bombs from the cascades. O got through with 941520 points.
