Hints and tips showing how to pass level 4020 Candy Crush Saga without boosters by Cookie
Level 4020 is an orders level, you need to collect blockers, fish and waffles to complete the level.
The fish and blockers are not too much of a problem, but the waffles might cause you some problems. What you really need to complete level 4020 are double colourbomb combos. These combos will clear the blockers to begin with and give you most of the fish you need. Clearing the blockers will release the remaining waffles that you will need to complete the orders,
Unfortunately the licorice will prevent you from using normal combos to collect the waffles except for on the occasions when some has been cleared, but more will soon drop down so you can't rely on keeping the licorice clear long enough to collect the waffles this way.
You must keep making colourbombs and try to get two together as often as you can as you are going to need 4 or more double colourbomb combos to get all the waffles you need.
You will get some long cascades and during the cascades some of the waffles will be cleared which will be helpful, once the cascades stop look again for colourbombs.
The video below by Kazuohk starts with 30 moves but it is completed in 24 so is still relevant as at the time of writing there are 24 moves.

Tip of the day.
1. Need King to provide space bot / space dash
2. Where cannot reset, go to level 606 to fill it back to maximum boosters
3. Need lucky board where cb boosters appear next to each other;else use hand switch to move them next to each other.
4. Use all 3 screen boosters where available.
5. Every 8 hrs collect candy/sugar drop to increase booster armory.
6. Spin the wheel every day to get free booster
7. Collect free booster every day on the Daily free booster platform.
No pain no gain. A very time consuming pastime indeed. (._.)

1. If you have the Space Race, play 3309 endlessly to get into first place.
2. Enjoy a fine collection of boosters, including the valuable UFO.

This level should be listed as a hard level!! Frustrated with the fish!! They never hit a waffle!!! With no licorice on the board, the fish hit candies, never a waffle!! Unfortunately I used up my boosters from the previous extremely difficult levels!!! I spent an entire 2 hours of unlimited play on this level!!! Twice I came within a few waffles short!!
I'm not sure how anyone can combine 2 color bombs!! If you don't use them instantly, they detonate!!! If you clear all the licorice, it stays clear, until the second you combine a color bomb with a striped candy, then they cascade!! This is just another PAY TO PASS LEVEL!!!
I didn't understand about 606... Does it work in mobile phone? I only saw a frog there...
I think I understand now. I was thinking that when you play 606 you could gain a flying saucer booster... you are talking about when you have that race, to fill it faster... Made a confusion.
Started with CB CB combo, got several more purely by luck, that was the key! 3 moves to spare, done

I have started by switching 2 cb together at the very first of the game but never get another 2 together. Have played this level most all day and am getting NO WHERE!

Pfl, extremely hard level, have spent all my boosters and three times !!! CBxCB. Angry!
Done full bot then 2cb together at start managed to get another couple CB together I just go at my own pace now play twice a day then leave it done on 2nd day

Tried all sorts nothing seems to work too much licorice all the time.
Then got a lucky board where got cb cb combo used a hand switch to get next to each other then 3 of those and got through. On the phone if y switch to flight mode after sd you keep the boosters!

To all the angry and frustrated people who still insist in playing this stupid game: did you realize that Kings wants only your money and it is counting on your frustration and anger in order to steal as much money as possible. I don't know exactly if this behaviour of Kings is legal or it can be considered a crime. The authority of control against poison games like Candy Crush should intervene for protecting these players from running out of their money just for overcoming these stupid levels, built as impossible exactly with the only scope of stealing ...
Wow! Been on this for days!! I've had good combos just never enough to get the waffles. Even the fish won't hit them to help collect orders.
I have been playing this level for a week. I begin every try with the space dash and with 2 CBs together. Without doing this, you don't have a crying chance in hell. Still, I have not been able to crack this one. I need more moves or less licorice. Hopeless. The only way to get close is to have many double CBs. I have had as many as 4 and still did not complete it.

If you play 606 around 7 times you will fill up your bot/dash whatever (1 CB + 1 stripe/wrap +3 moves more + 1 stripe/wrap + 1 CB, the more, the longer you play). You will NOT get an ufo or so there, but no one ever wrote this. Of course it works also on mobile. If you PLAY for a longer time, you should know how the frog works in 606. Normally 606 can be done with 2 or 3 moves, that's why it's so preferable (3711 is an easy level, too, but takes more time).
Fish don't eat waffles in the end, that's the problem. Had 3 double CBs and 15 moves for 10 waffles, but could not hit one then as no combo worked and no double CB was possible. Real bs-level.
Took check boosters and tried not to clear the other orders first, but concentrated on waffles. Because as long as you have not collected the rest, fishes will head for the waffles,
too. It worked with only 2 CB/CBs in total and 10 moves left. Ps: I did not start with full bot/dash, but only played 3711 once for a CB and took an own CB to start with double CB.
Full bot, cb/cb combo plus tick booster. Handswitch in middle. Passed with one move left.

Well, at least this is fun level as it looks as though I will be stuck for a while! The waffles are impossible, and once you’ve collected at the blockers and fish, the fish will NOT clear the waffles. Ugh....

This was a ridiculous level for me. No matter what I did, I couldn't get enough waffles. This level looks doable until you realize that it's hard to get the required number of waffles with the licorice blocking them. Cookie mentioned that double color bombs are the key. Well, it is not easy making double color bombs. I would start off with 2 color bombs next to each other but then I wouldn't be able to get anymore side by side. I finally passed this level by using 3 ufo boosters. I hated to do that because I don't know how to get anymore ufo boosters. I just didn't want to be on this level for the rest of my life. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do to move on.

This level is brutal. How on earth is this not rated extremely difficult? I am seeing to pass you need at least 3 cb/CB. Not only am I lucky to get one, but I still have the glitch where the CB explodes even if nothing is near it.
Come on King! If a level is hard, label it as such. If a scenario has too many hard levels, give us a break.

I had the full stocking which started with two CBs next to each other. This unlocked the licorice and cleared the blockers on the right but no waffles dropped for quite a few moves. Even with another double CB I was 12 waffles short of completing. It's so frustrating that the fish don't go for them.
Crazy level! I started with the full stocking, spun the wheel and won 15 extra moves and still couldn't get the waffles. Many attempts later I tried on my android and passed on my first attempt with nine moves remaining and using just one CB won from watching a video.

Got it, I earned two sprinkle balls from 3712 level moved one to combine the two, then got lucky to get another 2 that I moved again to combine. Made it with 5 moves. Whew!

I have been stuck on this level fir over a week. Playing it constantly as soon as I get a life. Ridiculous how fish never eat the waffle. Beginning to think it’s an impossible challange and beyond frustrating.

My tip is to use a checkmark booster (lucky candy). Worked for me like a charm. I didn't use any other boosters.

Played with full space dash boosters (2 color bombs, 2 striped candies, 2 wrapped candies, 3 extra moves). In hindsight, I should have added the check mark (lucky candy) booster. I collected as many double color bomb combinations as I could (I started with one, collected one or two more), tried color bomb plus wrapped (that didn't do much damage thanks to the layout of the board and the licorice), and color bomb and stripe combination (also didn't clear many waffles. Collecting the licorice and fish aren't difficult, it is the fish refusing to hit any waffles once you've collected all the fish and licorice that makes it so difficult. I got to about 10 waffles to go, ran out of moves and luckily spun a +15 moves on the wheel. I actually finished it on my first or second bonus move with a CB combo (I think stripe candy, can't remember for sure). I would go full booster and add a check mark booster if I ever played this level again. Thank you Cookie and everyone for the tips (they really do help), and Happy Crushing!
Also, I agree with the posters about 606 and 3711 being the best levels to quickly build up the space dash (or whatever your current streak-based booster building task is named). 606 is much easier, but much further to scroll to play. If King developers could make one time saving change, it would be to have a way to input what level you wanted to jump to on the main screen. No big complaints for a free game that I don't pay for any prize packages, and it is still a satisfying way to pass idle time for me. If it ever becomes too frustrating, I just play it less often and spend more time on other things. People frequently post here that they want to know names of other games that are less stressful, I like both Toy Blast and Toon Blast from Peak Games. They are similar to Candy Crush, but the gameplay and interface is just different enough to be a refreshing change-of-pace for me. I used to play CC Soda Saga, but that got old after a while, and the game play was counter-intuitive for me, trying to release soda to make ingredients float up instead of fall down, then reaching levels that I couldn't figure out made me delete the game. That's when I found the Peak Games that I enjoy a lot more than CC Soda.

the fish are retards in this level. they'll clear blockers or hit blank spots but avoid waffles at all cost. and CBs are plentiful but they get annihilated...

Been playing this level for a couple of days now and have not come close to the amount of waffles needed. I get plenty of fish, but they hardly ever eat a waffle leaving 20 or so waffles and end of game! I need a lucky board or fish that eat waffles and nothing else.

Very boring to watch everything exploding for ages at top of board with no purgers made at sides or bottom. I’m getting nowhere near the number of fish/waffles required, even with double cb. And why do I only get ONE special candy when using the check mark booster? Such a rip-off!

Day 2 on this horrific level....even the space ship isn't a plus. To pass this one you need at.least 4 or 5 combo'a of cb's. And guess what...i aint getting it.

I keep posting because this is getting more and more ridiculous. And you get challenges too...yeah right...never get to pass those if you can't pass a level for days. This isn' t fun anymore. When will you let me pass king...i already played like 200 freakin times. This isn't normal anymore...sorry....But keep uo the good works...i guess lots of people pay for boosters...otherwise you already shut down this game that is not FUN anymore because of these levels. I dont ask for a lucky board, i dont play this level much, not for me. Its to boring.

Okay another ridiculously hard levels which is frustrating beyond belief. But before I go there I want to say the Fantastic 5 has changed from 10,000 points to a doable 5,000 but still getting players who don't play and it seems more and more that I only make progress as a team when I make progress as an individual. Now with this level very difficult to make color bombs when the keep on exploding and I can't get a chance to match them. Then if that was bad enough those pesky licorice keep me from getting the waffles. Oh, well that is how it is going to be.
Okay, I've played long enough to know there's no way to pass this level without help. Not enough moves to ratio waffles. So,therefore, I'm at your mercy for help. Tired of asking but I can't move forward unless you give me a lucky board. Please?

Playing this level for the sake of it now, there is no logic and it’s an impossible level. No one can offer any tips or advice and despite previously posting I still cannot pass. It baffles me how King thinks this is ok - people will simply get bored and go and find something better to play. On that note, having been playing for several years, I now refuse to play anymore. Read all the comments and started with a check mark booster. Never got two color bombs together, but matched the color bomb with a stripe or wrap each time I got one. Was able to get several lucky candies and finished with 8 moves left.
